The best route to this cache is an easy downhill hike from Cameron Cone. For a more detailed description, you should view Cameron's Challenge (GCKDH0). This cache is hidden on a large rock outcropping, just a hair over 10k feet and on the verge of requiring safety/climbing gear. If you enjoy bouldering, then this climb may not be too hard. Otherwise, bring your pet monkey...

Well I never found the "easy" downhill walk from the top as described... but it was certainly easier than going up had been... .? My climb to the perch wasn't anything like the "climb" photo that is part of the cache page; that crack is an impressive feature to have covered!! I was darn glad the cache presented itself at the top of what I did manage to ascend... had it been on top of what I had my back to all the way- No Way BigSmile

Things are in near-great shape so far along, but there is a major crack in the lid of this larger-than-average preform. I left a coin & three layers of zip loc's to try & keep the weather out in case a bunch more lonely years elapse. Next (?!) climber might consider throwing another preform or large pill bottle-type in the pack to keep this one snug.

It was an easy decision as to who would be the photographer and the person who called 911, and who would climb to the top. Actually, there was no discussion at all. As a Climbstuff 4.5 terrain, it didn't disappoint. I "looked over" Crystal Park several times on this hike…at a much safer point. Ernie66 is nuts. I remember thinking that I better take the attached photo before he continued to the top as it could well be the last one taken of him alive. As it turned out, he made it back only partially covered in blood. I forgot to ask about the view :-) ?
Still alive

Climbstuff, Vorticity, and I teamed up to get the original kriskook Cameron's Challenge cache (GDKDH0) in 2007. That is an accomplishment in itself, but Chris wanted to hide another tough cache nearby, so the three of us walked down the ridge from the summit of Cameron's until we got to the crag Chris had his eye on. I watched him climb up to the top to hide the cache and noted his route, vowing to come back one day and do it myself. Today was the day. Estes01 and I made the attempt and were successful!

I tried the route I remembered Chris taking, but couldn't get more than 5 feet off the ground. But with a bit of scouting, I discovered another route from a different direction that got to about 10 vertical feet from the cache with relatively minor effort. For the last 10 feet, a long-sleeved shirt and some climbing gloves would have been useful as they would have saved some blood loss. But the cache was found in perfect condition, as if it had been hidden yesterday and not 8 years ago. Not many have signed this log and I was proud to see our names added to the list. A favorite for sure - 8 years ago and today.

Cache in hand!

The last 10 feet ... how to get up there?

wow that was a fun cache. I am an avid climber and I was very nervous on the down climb with the gail force winds today. Thanks for the adventure.

Mtn_Goat and I were close today, but we decided to bypass this "overlook" and to come back when the weather was a little less crazy... Trust me, it hurt to walk away from it when we were so close, but some times it is best to know when to say “Not Today” my friend…

It was an absolute thrill to be the "pet monkey cache retriever". After a few of your hides I just plan on heading for the top. I took a different approach but still had plenty of elevation to get my heart racing. SL, TFTC!

Awesome day to go caching. Went with Tito and chef and 3 kids. The view from the cache was great and I only scuffed up my clothes a little climbing over those rocks. Had a great time. Thanks. TTFN
Kids had fun too

I was with the CO when he placed it ... what a hike to the top and from the top of Cameron's. Vort
