Columbine along the trail
View from the top

This cache takes you on a beautiful trail up the northwest side of Cheyenne Mountain to a spot on top with nice views to the east. It's along a trail that is obvious, but not well travelled.
Parking for the cache is along Old Stage Road across from the road to the Broadmoor Stables (waypoint below). The trail starts across the road behind the pile of gravel. Do not take the wide wash that goes straight ahead. The trail is to the left and narrow.
The first stage of Gold Treasure Chest (GCK5N5) is very close and will get you on the correct trail. Geocaching Trail (GCK5N2) is also along this trail.
When you get to the turn in the trail indicated in the waypoint below, there are 2 trail options. One recently described in the Gazette makes a sharper turn and is steep. The one you want is more of a ninety degree turn to the right and is mostly level. You will soon come upon an old water pump that pumped water up to the Cheyenne Mountain Lodge.
After this pump, you’ll be following the old pipe the rest of the way (on a trail).
The first stage is shortly after the switchbacks start, and the final is at the top.
The one-way length from parking to final without the little detours to the other 2 caches is 2.75 miles.
The first stage is in a cammoed match container, and the final is in a cammoed 30cal ammocan. Starting contents are hiking related.
Post pictures; you'll take lots!
The hints are complete spoilers, because this cache is about the hike. I do want you to find the cache!

My pal G-Love found both stages. I was in the wrong boulders for the first one, and turning over all the wrong rocks for the second stage. Glad it was him at the top, because the cache was covered in swarming ants. It is an awe-inspiring view of NORAD and a fire tower that I REALLY wanted to continue to (does the trail go up there?)...but it was getting late so we had to head back. The pump was cool. Wonder who had the fun task of hauling in all that pipe? Anyway, I filled the ammo can with lotsa toys for the next person. TFTC!

Excellent hike on Cheyenne Mountain to get up here. The views are outstanding from the final. The cache is in good shape and well worth the effort. TFTC

It was overcast today, with the mountain in the clouds. Which was great for hiking but not so much for the views. Just when we were at the saddle, the clouds cleared some so that we could enjoy the vista. Hazy, but wonderful. Thanks for placing this cache.

I hiked up to the top of the ridge yesterday so I checked on the cache while there. The first stage was laying on the ground at the boulder so I put it back into it's place and put a rock in front of it to hold it in place. The final was in good shape and dry. The trail also is in good shape with columbines blooming now.

Old Stage/Gold Camp Road is currently closed due to fire danger, so there is no legal access to the trails in this area. Will re-enable when road reopens.
