I am going to tell you the tale of my great Captain, who is in dire need of your assistance! His name is Captain James Littlefoot. He was the most feared and successful Pirate Captain on the open waters. Some still shiver at the mere mention of his name; but alas, he no longer sails the open waters in search of his next adventure - for he is cursed!

In his last plunder of most excellent riches, there was a perfectly cut Crystal of the highest quality. It was his prized possession. Unfortunately, for him and his crew, this Crystal was Cursed!!! Strange happenings started occurring on his ship once the Cursed Crystal arrived on board... Crew mates went missing, Scurvy was at its highest rate and don't even ask about the happenings in the hull.

Within one week of the Crystal arriving on board, there was a great storm, larger than any the crew had ever seen. The waves crashing against the great ship caused all on board to lose consciousness... including the great Captain.

When they awoke, they found themselves washed ashore of a lake... in the mountains... of Colorado! Struck with fear, they evacuated the ship and in good time because shortly after - the curse turned their ship to stone! The Captain was also going through major changes... he was covered in hair and his feet would not stop growing.

In an effort to undo this horrific curse, he hid his treasure, and the Cursed Crystal, under a large boulder near his ship (now made of stone)... But sadly, nothing changed. He destroyed the map to the treasure and ran off into the woods, never to be seen again save it be by a few. Below is a piece of the map... it is rumored that the missing piece can be found where the Captain was last seen.

The Captain's fate, along with his ship and crew, is now in your hands! I believe that if you find the pieces of the map, find the treasure and 'Discover' the Cursed Crystal - that the curse will be lifted. If you succeed, the Captain will return to his normal form, the ship will no longer be turned into stone and the crew will return from where they disappeared to. Only you can return this great Captain and his crew back to the open waters! I pray that you have the courage to take on this task and help me and my great Captain go back to what we love (and know that you love too)... TREASURE HUNTING!!!

Bring the kids on this treasure hunt! This is now a two stage Multi-cache. PLEASE use stealth, and hide each stage well. The map has been stolen many times, so you may find the coordinates in the hint now. I will be adding the map image to the cache page as well soon. I recommend stopping at the posted coords for a photo with the Captain's sign for fun. Getting to the final is a nice walk along the shoreline (with very little elevation change) from the Parking area, and the views are amazing! PLEASE DO NOT take the treasure chest or any of its contents (they are there for the themed visual enjoyment of all finders), but everything else is free for trade. There are Pirate key chains, Eye-patches, Pirate Puzzles, etc... please feel free to bring Pirate-themed trade items. THANKS!

*** ARRRRRRRR! Congrats to wewilldo7 for the FTF!!! ***
Thanks to KBsta for adopting this to me on June 28, 2011. It was fun to rework my own twist on your idea.

Lemonheadmafia and I brought my son out here today to do some fishing. While they did that I walked on further to get this cache. It's weathering well besides missing the log book. A piece of paper is being used and still dry. Sl, thanks!

Arrrr. There were doubloons and pieces of eight and jewels, but no log. Left a small temporary paper. Thanks for a fun find.

As we were running to the cache we came to a crossroads and instead of following the trail to the left we went right, which soon showed itself to be leading away from GZ...but time was running out so we bushwhacked up a slight incline and then down a steep hill. Then I seen a perfect place for pirate treasure and could see the cache. Thanks for the great multi!

Hiking Granny, Team Viper, Choice 1 and myself signed the logs on our trip as hgtvcnc1. We had a wonderful time visiting 4 different states and seeing some beautiful country. Thank you so much for the hide. Happy caching.

While doing the research for Pike's Peak I noticed this multi cache and I knew that we could do it (great hint). We were running out of time so we kind of started running at times but we managed to get to the loot, scrawl our initials and head back before the gates closed. I see now it was just short of being a lonely cache as well but we are just happy we were able to find it without incident (or accident).
TFTC and the memories for us Canadian gals!

4 of us from Canada are on a road trip to find some of the oldest caches plus others in Kansas, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. There is an Altitude Challenge Cache in Alberta that we all wanted to do, so after finding Mingo in Kansas, we drove up to Pike's Peak and found a cache here on the same day. Being flatlanders, we were a little altitude challenged, but managed to find a few caches here before heading back down. We found this one on our way back down and enjoyed the nice walk along the lake. Signed the logs "hgtvcnc1" most of the time but with our full caching names on some of them. TFTC

Stopped at WP1 and started the search. No luck so checked the hint. Oh...
Continued our day and looked at where 2nd stage was on the way back down. No time, so we passed on it. Wasn't expecting it to be so far from the road.

No luck here!

On our way up to the peak we stopped at WP1 coordinates forgetting that it was missing. We looked at several possibilities before I read my GPS and remembered it was not there. Fortunately my GPS had somehow found (decoded?) the final coordinates when I downloaded the cache. I recorded them on a piece of paper so I could enter them as a waypoint. It was OK that we stopped here though so the "kids" (our son, 29 and his girlfriend) could take a picture of the interesting sign. We decided to go on up to the peak so we wouldn't get closed out as they said there was blowing snow (it was a good thing we did) and we stopped at the parking area on the way down, hiked over to the final and found it pretty easy. We only had one deep drift we had to wade through. No signatures on the log since July, 2013. There were no travel bugs in the cache either.
