Creepy in the day but much creepier at night!

The Creepy Tree is an old pine tree on private land (the CO's land; if you are a geocacher and reading this, you are welcome to ignore the "No Trespassing" sign and proceed...if you dare!). Please park at the parking waypoint then navigate your way down through the forest.

Be forewarned that the Creepy Tree's cache is protected by a spectral guardian and her minions. To retrieve the cache you’ll have to work up all your nerve, approach the guardian, and see what she’s hiding in her chamber. If you feel a skeletal hand tapping you on the shoulder, it’s a sign that she does not like your presence and you should depart from her realm as fast you can.

If the guardian is kind enough to let you retrieve the cache make sure you leave something if you take something, otherwise she will surely unleash her ghostly minions upon you!

For the most courageous cachers make yours a night cache. Park at the waypoint, bring your flashlight and find the aspen tree near the road with a fire tack about 5 feet off the ground. From there, follow the fire tack trail until you find the Creepy Tree. To return to your starting destination follow the trail of fire tacks that will lead you back. Good luck!

Temporarily disabled from Nov. 1 thru June 30. The Rocky Mountain climate during the winter at this altitude are brutal on the Guardian and her minions and make accessibility very difficult. They will be back to guard the Creepy Tree in the Spring!

What a PERFECT cache for Halloween week!!! RockDoc and I searched for this cache at twilight. Love the spooky signs along the trail. Found the Creepy Tree and its creepier guardian just as darkness was falling. Was almost afraid to open the secret crypt!!! What a FUN cache! It gets a fave. Thank you for this creative cache!

Picked this one up while on business in Fairplay. Given the high amount of favorite points and the neat cache description, this one seemed like it would be worth the time required to make the trip to this location. Creepy Tree indeed. I had no idea what to expect at GZ, and was pleasantly surprised with what the CO crafted at GZ. Such effort and attention to detail like this is what really keeps the hobby going. As a CO myself, I was very impressed with how well kept everything was...especially considering the age of the cache. Whether great craftmanship or diligent maintenance, I really appreciate the effort that went into making this fun for everyone. I dropped off a TB to help entice more cachers to come and see this. Thanks to the CO for this super cool cache and fun hunt, TFTC.

Should have done this at dusk! The gravel road is kidney-punishing, but the trail, tree, and cache are fantastic.

Checked on the Creepy Tree yesterday, storms have disabled the Guardian but her ghostly minions are still there. Hopefully will get a new Guardian for the Creepy tree soon, will keep you posted...

Found it , OK that’s got to make it on the favorite list just for the amount of work it took to put that all together. But I’m so glad it wasn’t very dark when I came, tftc

My 100th find in the U.S. Smile
This is one of the best I've seen in a long time. A real work of art. Found easily. Took GC. FP for the effort!

Creepy alright! That is as a fun cache. I took 1 TB H96DDJ and left a TB geocoin. Also left more swag and took a Colorado coin. Thanks. Doing the CSP Geotour and having an amazing time learning the history of this area. TFTC
