The community known as Quartzville was first settled in the early 1860s and survived many booms and busts in the mining industry high on the slopes of Mount Bross. Silver ore was the primary commodity produced by the mining camp and it has been said that the ore was so difficult to treat that it was sent to Wales for refining. By the turn of the century the settlement had been abandoned due to the repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act, which crippled the silver mining industry. Today, very little remains of Quartzville but if you look closely you might see the ruins of a cabin or arrastra.

North of Alma, go west on County Road 4 for 1.9 miles then turn left on Beresford Crossing, which turns into Roberts Road. Go 2 miles west on Roberts Road until you see the turn off for Crest Drive. If you have a 4WD/high clearance vehicle you can continue up Crest Drive to the cache, otherwise you can hike.

Second one on the tour. Don’t be discouraged by the note. Private property for the first 1/2 mile then open bit the road is washed out after a heavy snow melt. We went 1/2 mile and parked at impassable spot me hiked in. Great views.

Thxs for another South Park geotour cache. the coords were spot on & there is lots of space on this log for future finds. The last signature was 1 yr ago. The log was wet but I was able to sign it w/ink after waving it in the sunshine for a while. Our Garmin said 11,800 ft.

We drove all the way up here and the signage is very confusing. You cannot park anywhere and hike in because there are many signs stating your car will be towed if left parked and unattended. Also, the road in looks like a forest road but has a no trespassing sign posted. We were afraid to attempt. This unfortunately took to much of our time from the tour. No bueno

Found this on our way down from doing Mt. Lincoln via the East Ridge. I was surprised to see no finds for over a year. Found the cache but the contents were pretty wet. I drained out the water and tried to dry things but they were still pretty damp. The log was OK but my pen refused to write on it. I am surprised by the water since this the first time in hundreds of ammo cans that I have found one to have leaked. The can looked OK, so I suspect the plush toy may have gotten partially caught in the lid. I am attaching a photo showing the contents and suspect it should be OK going forward. Giving this a favorite point. TN LN TFTC!

What a nice morning to be up in the Mountains. The Aspens are already starting to turn. Stopped for this one on the way to The Forgotten Fourteener. A quick find with the hint. Stamped the log and we're off to the next one. [8d][8d] SL TFTC

That was quite the rough road, but we made it in our Jeep. The cache was very wet inside, despite being an ammo can. There were a few people ATVing close by, so we explained what we were doing on the way back down. They seemed to think it was very interesting and plan to look up the South Park Geotour for themselves.
