Found it. It’s still alive and well although no one has found it in 2 years. I recognize so many previous names because they geocache like crazy around where I live. It seems I just always follow them a year or 2 later.

Thanks for the 5 star terrain rating-I feel I earned every bit of it. No one can drive up here any longer as the FS has closed this road to Silverheels TH down where it originally leaves the main 4x4 road to all motorized vehicles. There are two carsonite signs right at the bottom.
I always knew I would be hiking as I don't have an off road 4WD like you would need to get up here even if it was still open. Interesting that they suggest a 5 star terrain rating if you need special equipment like a boat, but not if you need a real 4x4?

Ha ha! No, I was definitely NOT happy with this unplanned adventure. The jeep was more than capable of making it all the way to this cache, but about 3/4 of the way up the road we thought we were supposed to take a side road, but it was blocked off...so we walked. Having just done a 14er, the extra mileage and elevation gain was not welcome, particularly when we eventually hit the road we should have driven up in the first place. Never mind, it all worked out as we found the cache. Thanks!

Coming back from a hike up Mt. Bross, I thought this might be a quick side trip. That wasn't quite right. I didn't do enough research beforehand and I think we hiked quite a bit more than necessary. Of course, when taking the wrong route to any cache, you see the right route as soon as you get there
. Estes01 was very patient with my unplanned adventure and we both enjoyed the view of the valley with aspens nearing their color peak for the year. TFTC!

Stopped by today on the way to Silverheel. Haven't found a CO cache in over five years, so it's exciting to visit from Wisconsin and do some hiking in the area the rest of the week.

Thanks go out to WingsandTales and kenyansherpa for replacing the cache and keeping this one going. Found with no trouble this morning on a beautiful Colorado morning. Cache is in excellent shape, signed the log and left a Colorado coin for the next adventurous geocacher. T4T$

On the way down from Mt. Silverheels we searched very thoroughly for this cache. As she put in her log, we ended up putting in a replacement. Hopefully it will have a long life!

Kenyansherpa and I searched the area thoroughly but could not find the cache. I tried to contact the CO before we went up there but got no response so we decided to replace it. The D/T combo is too uncommon to let it go missing. The container is now a small otterbox container tucked between a rock and the base of a tree. It is approx 20 feet SW of the posted coords. I'll post a couple spoiler pictures to help find it. TFTC
The cache is at the bottom of the hiking pole
Looking from the tree, he is standing at the cache
