Scenic view  Difficult climbing  Cliff / falling rocks  Medium hike (1km-10km)

Goat Camp Creek is paralled by a fun and challenging trail. Park at the AFA visitor's center, cross the paved road, and follow a dirt road up to the trailhead. The steepest section climbs nearly 1000 feet within a half mile. Push your own pace for a nice workout that rivals the Incline!

This cache will require some off trail bushwacking and a short boulder scramble, leading to incredible local views from a relaxing platform. It is more easily accessed from above, or the north, route finding will be half your adventure. Upon reaching that platform-like boulder, the cache should be 20 feet, and a scramble, to the east, under a large rock.

We took a detour from our hike up eagle's peak to go for this cache. Sadly nothing at gz. We replaced with another micro.

WOW!!!! The Chief was in town for Parents weekend at the Academy and we decided to take a hike up to Eagles Peak and look for a cache on the way up. Followed the trail up to the area, when we decided to head NW toward this one. Made to within 20 feet of GZ, or where the Garmin said GZ should be. I took some major climbing to get closer and started looking under all kinds of different rocks but could find a container. Moved around some of the bigger boulders to see if there was a was different way to get to GZ. Again, came up with nothing. Some beautiful views from the top of the highest boulder here! will post a picture when we get home. Then we started the hike back to the trail. WOW!!! this is when it got a little harder! We weaved our way back and forth, up and down as we made our way to the trail! lots of scratches !! But we finally made to the trail. this was a great hike, but we were disappointed that we had to post the DNF! thanks for giving us a great workout for the day!!!

This could be a candidate for the No Country For Short Wimmen series... came down from FalconStash 1 and had to grin and shake my head as I approached GZ as I knew exactly where you were going to take me. Very interesting - you certainly don't disappoint! Thanks for the cache, the view, and the adventure. Continued on down to Goat Camp Creek afterwards to Lunch Spot, etc.

Finally, I found it! I was here 5 years ago and had to log a DNF. Today we searched all over and finally read the description carefully enough to convince ourselves it was exactly where we thought, which is to say, exactly where we didn't want it to be. I made the scramble (Whew!), and then easily found the cache. Then the scramble back (Whew!), and the trip back down the hill (a few more Whew!s). I can't tell you how good if feels to finally log the smiley for this one. Thanks!

Second-scariest moment of the whole day above the basin was getting back OFF the secure ledge! Eeek

Then I had to get down the real trail w/o killing myself !!

What a day! Flew in for work, one of my cohorts is a USAFA alum, gave me a tour, and we hiked the mountain. Excellent views, very nice to sit and listen to nothing but what God created. Thanks for the perk to a great hike!

I already had a good idea about what we were in for on this one and knew that WingsAndTales would be the one who would retrieve the cache. You have to understand, we are semi-logical people who take all the worst outcomes into consideration before attempting a cache. This definitely took teamwork, and as far as I’m concerned, a lot of courage on her part. Funny how you feel good about yourself when you still find that you’re alive. A climbstuff 4…yup, a different rating system for sure :-)
