The Lost Creek Wilderness Area was designated by Congress in 1980 and expanded in 1993 to include 119,790 acres of land protected in its natural condition. The Wilderness Area is named for Lost Creek, which disappears several times throughout its course only to reappear further downstream. The Tarryall, Kenosha, and Platte River mountain ranges are all included in the LCWA and several trails serve the area, including the Ute Creek, Colorado, and Brookside-McCurdy Trails.

This cache is located along the Ute Creek Trail near the boundary for the Lost Creek Wilderness Area. The Ute Creek Trailhead parking area is located just off County Road 77 (Tarryall Road). There is another cache to pick up along the trail closer to the trailhead. Please use caution when retrieving this cache.
