3 mile mountain path, rocky in parts; cache is at over 11,000 feet.
The closest parking lot is at 10,100 feet. A hike of almost 3 miles brings you to the cache at about 11,760 feet. The last mile of the trail is over loose rock, and the wind can be severe. However, the scenery is fantastic and there are several slopes which should be full of wildflowers in July and August.

On June 20, there was still some snow to negotiate, as well as several streams; no real problems.

The cache is on the right (north) side of the trail as you approach the pass. It is toward the high side of a depression lined with melon-sized, lichen-covered rocks. It has several rocks on top to keep it from blowing away, but should be visible when you are within 6 feet or so. The container is not completely covered. The depression is about 20 feet off the trail.

The initial contents are: Turkish Airlines box of goodies, sand from Omaha Beach, France, several Wash & Dries for refreshment purposes, and 4 AA batteries for worn-down GPS's. The cache is a 4" x 4" x 7" Tupperware container, so don't bring anything large.

18th anniversary of cache placement!

If the next finder could take along a replacement container, I'd be happy to pay for it. My knees don't want to make the trip anymore.

Found on a nice hike with geopuppy Riley. Saw a moose on the drive up. Left a pathtag. The log is double bagged and nice and dry. 3 of the 4 clips to the lock-n-lock are missing. Left rocks on top to keep the lid on. Maybe the next finder can bring a replacement lock-n-lock. Hadn't hiked in this area in years. It was nice to finally grab this old one. Find #5100.

Found this on 9/3, logging this from my phone and it won't let me change the date. Had a nice three day hike in the area over Labor Day weekend and forgot to log this when I got back. Thanks for the cache. The views from the area can't be beat.

I was hiking up here with a friend (whose first find this was!) And dropped by to replace the bag holding the log with something a bit more watertight. I cannot get over how beautiful this trail is!

Could the next person hoping to find this take along a replacement ziplock? Thanks.

Stopped by on my way up Mt. Neva. Incredible wildflowers and the views in the valley there are just gorgeous. Add to this the fact that I was able to find a 16 year old cache above tree line and this definitely gets a favorite! TFTC!
The views!

I came up here with my hiking group, on our way over the Divide, 15 miles to Monarch Lake TH from 4th of July TH. I was the only cacher in the group, so I had about 30 seconds to find this cache before they were going to leave me behind. Fortunately, that's all it took. I didn't take anything, although the nicely packaged pack-sized roll of TP was tempting.

Perfect weather day today, too; just couldn't have been finer. I wish I'd had time to read the 15-year-old logbook. TFTC!

(9/10/16) I liked this hike so much that I came back up here with my husband, who had never been up to Arapahoe Pass before, and we went to Lake Dorothy. I of course remembered where the cache was. My husband was more patient than my hiking group--he let me sit and read the old log. And I still left the TP behind.

This cache is in such a great place--more cachers should make the effort to get here!

Absolutely gorgeous. There were already at least 50 cars at the trailhead at 7:30on a Saturday morning but it was totally worth it. Whatever it takes, get yourself up here. The cache was an easy find although to was completely covered by rocks otherwise it would be easily visible. Unfortunately one of the clips of the lock and lock broke when I opened it but it is still water proof. After finding the cache make sure you continue up to look over the other side of the continental divide and a bit further to the lake. It's spectacular. TNLNSLTFTC
