10:46 AM We are here from Dallas for our typical August vacation in Divide in order to skip the Texas heat for a couple of weeks.
First cache of the day after about an hour to hike down to the trailhead and then up to reach the ridge line. What a great container - worthy of a favorite point - and a nice view nearby.
I signed the log 13 months after OR85OR450, one of the cachers I really admire - and a part-time DFW resident, and Crumbcrunchers/YamaGypsy. Thanks, Phoenix2001, for the cache.
Detailed route information:
Thanks to OR85OR450 for his route notes. We took a similar route with a few adjustments.
The northernmost open, legal parking area is Raspberry Mountain Trailhead, N38 52.846 W105 07.523. We parked there and hiked down the road toward the suggested parking area. We stopped a little north of there and cross the creek at the bridge. (Bridge N38 53.113 W105 07.868). We headed west and then southwest angling up the valley until we joined the trail at (Trail N38 53.014 W105 08.052). We headed up the trail until we reached Crags Vista. We followed the ridgeline south to the other three caches, ending with Colorful Colorado - Black Forest. We then descended trying to take the gentlest slope possible. We headed southeast to abouth N38 51.814 W105 07.915 (10,591 ft elev). We encountered what looked like an old abandoned road and followed it east-northeast to N38 51.923 W105 07.735 (10,445 elev). We then turned slightly south of east toward the forest road FS383. We reached the road at N38 51.883 W105 07.427. We appeared to be just north of another parking area, where you could place a second vehicle. We then hiked down the road for 1.2 miles and descended 336 feet back to our parking area.
Overall, it was a 5 mile round trip to hunt 4 caches on this ridge. It took us 2 hrs 52 minutes. I'm sure others can do it faster.

Hi - left parking experience notes on two other local caches ... just a 'Found It' note here !! Nice place to hike & see the mountain on a clear day
Just a sliver remains alive... but doing well!

I've hiked on trails in this area a few times. Always looking up at this point and saying someday I'd hike. Well, today I need this hike. A hard hike is always a welcome distraction to quiet your mind. After a brief respite at the top of the rocks I climbed back down and made the find. Loved the camo! Thanks for enticing me up here!

Quite a hike up there. Glad when it leveled off. Followed it with a hike up crags trail. Fun with kb0rpw. TFTC!

Came backwards to this one parking at the end of the forest road and finding an old road that took me 1/2 way up to the ridge then it was winding around all the downfall to get the rest of the way up. Lots of rock outcrops & points to work around too. I wished I had set a track so I could follow it on my way back. The snow was coming down pretty hard and the clouds around Pikes came right down onto the ridge so the normal views were obscured by fast moving clouds. Fortunately the actual cache was a quick find and I headed back past the caches. After I passed Black Forest I thought I needed to veer right but my dog kept circling towards the left so I stopped & checked my GPS and looked to where the road ended & set that as a target point. Sure enough I had turned the wrong way & was actually headed towards Hwy 67! Fortunately I wasn't too far down the hill & soon I spotted a section of my up coming tracks. Boy way my dog a saver! I continued to follow him & my GPS until I got to the top of the old road where I knew exactly where I was. The snow continued to fall even harder and for the most part my old tracks were already filled in, but the car was soon in sight.

Great hike up the "road". It's hard to imagine anything but a mule traveling this road. Great vistas and a nice workout.

Had a nice hike up to the ridge today to find a few caches before the rain came back. The stream was rather high, so glad I found the good log crossing and was able to proceed without mishap. Went up to the top, and I have to say, the view OF the Crags Vista is much better than the view FROM the Crags Vista. Thanks for a well hidden lure to get me back up here!

When I arrived near GZ I went ahead and headed to the top thinking that would be where the cache was hidden. Once on top I had great 360 degree view. It was unusual for it to be cloudy so early in the morning. Definitely did not have a view of Pike Peak due to the overcast. I then looked at by GPS and saw that the cache was 100 ft behind me. So down I climbed. Quick find once I arrived at GZ. Nice container! TFTC.
