Took perhaps the wrong way here. Nicely hidden, but findable. Not findable- my pen from no. 2. "Signed" by making small folded tabs on the end of the log sheet. Dry log for now. But what about winter?

I picked this one up while in the local area during the end of the June transition month for what I called the "Freeze and Fry Run"...snivel cold at night and in the morning, sun beating hot in the afternoon. I had to go to Cortez, CO to pick up some old friends from New Jersey to act as their tour guide while enroute to DIA. Of course, I was trying to hike and pick up a few caches before they arrived. I decided to give this series a try because it looked fun, had decent D/T ratings, and was within "striking distance" after having to recover from a dead battery in my Xterra in the first half of the day. Despite some of the log entries, I really didn't think this was too intense a hike. Lucky for me, the late start was a bonus as the mountains offered shade and some much needed protection from the sun.
I had trouble finding the trail to this one. I took the rocky ATV trail from GC3NKZC Take a hike #1. I soon found this trail passed above and behind the cache, so I had to abandon this route and bushwhack straight to GZ. Fortunately, I soon broken into the open plateau and spied the trail heading further up the spur. After a short search, I was grateful to have this one in hand. In my case here, it is better to be lucky than good. I enjoyed the view and the hunt. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find, TFTC.
