Black Forest Section 16 Augmented Reality Cache!!

 

 

How exciting to try something new!!

This cache is part of an experiment that allows the use of Augmented Reality (AR) apps to find the cache. At the end of this experiment, Geocaching HQ will decide if this cache will be grandfathered or archived. Geocaching HQ reserves the right to archive this cache at any time if conditions change. If you have found this cache and would like to give feedback on your experience, please fill out this survey.


To get started you will need to download the Metaverse app on your smart phone.
Link app on iOS and Android.

With the app installed, go to the posted coordinates. Open the app and search Section16_AR_Cache and open the experience. You will be faced with an easy riddle to answer in order to unlock the final coordinates.  Then a short hike to the final.

 

Hope you all enjoy this experience!  I hope this is a real and lasting new cache type like Wherigo's!!  It's fun building and a neat experience!

Was one of the beta testers for this cache last year - and finally got out to sign the final today! Chilly evening, but nice to get out for a trail jog. Ice skated a few times, but the fresh air was nice! Thanks for this cache - picked up 2 TBs.

I have had problems with other AR caches on site so ran while home with internet service and got coordinates before I left. Worked great that way. Thanks RPierperCo for new cache type

Interesting new technology. We’re excited about future caches using this new concept. We used our phone to run the app and a GPS to takes us to the final coordinates - there is probably a simpler way. Signed log and discovered the trackable in the container. Thanks for the fun new cache.

Another deja vu cache! Way to reduce waste by recycling!

I started to put together an AR_ cache of my own, but in typical Mike fashion I overcomplicated it and am going to have to start over. Hopefully this experiment goes well!

I was able to run the AR portion of the cache somewhere with cell service, which is good - I dont have reliable signal at section 16. When I had the final coords we set out in our adventure!

Today was a perfect day for Black Forest Section 16, as we had plenty of sunshine, and the trees filter out just enough of it. We hiked the trail in reverse of what we usually do, making this cache the last find of the day. We signed the log as AndKaylee was waking up - thanks for the cache, and the simple AR experience!

TFTC I came down from Woodland Park to find some caches with geobuddy, nicehice. We are working on a variety of types today.

This AR cache was one of my specific goals today. I hope they retain these and add their own cache type in the future. I have a play anywhere AR cache in Woodland Park, GC7RAAG .

The final was in good shape. Happy to give this a Favorite point. I will fill out the survey requested.
