You can hike, bike, ATV, Jeep or drive your 4WD SUV or Pickup to this one. The cache can be approached from two different trails. One of the trails (#1-Jeep) will allow you to get within 100 yards, but it's very narrow in places. The other (#2-Pickup) is more open, but will require a climb at the end.

The container is a camoed 5 gallon bucket with big swag, a log and a couple of pencils.

The views from this mesa are great. The Jeep trail at the top runs North to South, through the junipers, and offers a unique view of the Rifle Arch.

Please close the gates behind you as you pass through the area.

Got it after correcting my cache... Nice short walk and was greeted by a couple of meadow maggots out on the flats. Signed the log and scrambled back up to the buggy.

I must have started out on Thirty-One Mile Mesa. Shock I started out on Option #2 with my little 4-wheeler but I REALLY NEEDED a hike so I parked at a point where my track width probably exceeded road width indicating a potential fall into the ditch and started hoofing across "where the deer and the antelope play". (Actually, they are Pronghorns, not related to antelope; closest relative the giraffe, believe it or not!) That's how I found out I was on Thirty-One Mile Mesa. When I reached the Great Divide Wash between me and that cache, I did not "hear a discouraging word, and the skies were not cloudy all day", although the sun was rapidly setting. I was setting myself up to be just like one of those people I search for myself. Disapprove Diminishing daylight, no light, no food/water and one bar left on my GPS battery, sketchy cell or no cell coverage. An adventure! Well, at the least, I might meet some of my friends on Garfield County SAR later. Blush Needless to say, although it was challenging finding this cache as a cross-country trek, I encountered no mis-adventure, probably due to my superior physcial conditioning (snicker, snicker) and I did find my way back to the vehicle with a few minutes of light in the sky and a cache that I have been pondering for some time under my belt. Cache is in excellent condition, although that lid nearly stumped me, and there's some great swag in there. Thanks for the tour of sagebrush country! BigSmile

Went up the BLM road with Roancacher in her Jeep! Phew that first part was tad scary. Rod was washed out a bit and is a long way down in a couple of places. I was glad she was driving!! Great little hike to the cache site. TNLNSL
