The Two Secret Decoder Rings
View from the Final

The first stop is in town but continues and ends in the shadow of Mount Herman.
This is a 3-stage multi (micro/micro/small) dedicated to something I found in the bottom of a CrackerJack box (or was it an Ovaltine bottle ...). Anyway, you'll need this: "L IB AK.HBH, F GAJ KK.JCA" at the second stop.

First stop has been muggled three times so I replaced the first stop puzzle with tag - maybe this won't be worth stealing. It's an easy find.

Trails get thinner and terrain gets tougher as you go. Last 1000 "crow feet" is a pretty sparse trail so I rated it on my "bushwacker" scale (number of scrapes and scratches still oozing blood when I get back to the parking lot). Listed waypoints will get you there but I ran into two other groups of hikers near the final so there's probably an easier route.

Initial swag includes a poncho, space blanket, 5-in-1 survival tool, compass/thermometer, mini-carabiners, AA batteries, paints, silly putty, logbook, pencils and a snake.

I forgot how old this cache is & I finally made it to the final. I had trouble finding the stage B4 this one so got some help from a previous finder. It was confirmed that stage was still in place as of last fall.
This climb is one of the most difficult because of the steepness and consistency of decomposed granite making the footing treacherous. Even my dog slipped & he has 4WD with grippers. Thank goodness I used a hiking pole. Earns every bit of 4D rating and then some. Whew!
I left a pin from our train ride on the Alamosa to LaVeta Pass to see the Bellamy Brothers concert for my huggles 59th birthday last year.

I think the first stage is missing

I did the first two stages years ago and just never got around to the final. When I was looking for something to do today I realized my hike would be very near. There are trails all over up there and none seemed to go quite where I wanted them to. It was a good hike and I'm glad to finally get this cracker of a cache. TFTC

Oh my gosh. Where do I even begin? This one started at the beginning for me. I found the first stage somewhere in my first 50 geocaches, and logged a find before I knew what multicaches were. This was in 2009: I was taking Algebra 1 in the 7th grade at Mountain Ridge. Fast forward 8 years, and now I'm taking advanced neuroscience classes in college, have moved out of my house, and have the potential (kinda) for a good beard. What a finale to the cache, too! I've hiked this trail 4 times, and each time I thought I had cleared out all of the puzzle finals, multi finals, and traditionals. Well, I was wrong again, wasn't I? I waved to the other caches in the area as I trekked past. It was easy going until the last 0.2 miles and then it was relentless. One of the steepest hikes in the area, I'm sure! But certainly rewarding! Thanks for a fantastic cache that was able to last for a very long time! Hopefully no one else takes this long to complete it, haha! I'm not sure what the most surprising part about this cache was: the time it took me to get from beginning to end, the fact that there were bike tracks on the trail, or that there were TWO different groups of people who stumbled upon the final and wrote in the logbook. All in all, thanks for keeping this cache around for so long! A favorite for me for sure!

What a fun multi cache, thank you! I started this one last week. I have driven by dozens times always telling myself to stop and get the first stage. Finally did it! Oddly, this one took awhile! I was searching all the wrong spots, but the coords were spot on! After spotting it I felt silly for not seeing it before! Well before the holiday weekend I set out to grab stage 2 during my lunch break. Quick find and I loved the puzzle! Today I teamed up with CrumbCrunchers to tackle the final climb! We actually followed a good trail to within 200'! Tough last 200 though! Quick find at GZ, we took a rest and snapped some pictures. Everything is fine with the cache but it has been chewed on a little. Signed and stamped the log and returned to it's home. Now a smart person might go back to the trail and head down. A crazy fool might lead himself and partner straight down toward another cache. I am the later! Ha ha ha! We made it back to the parking area unharmed save it be a few scratches. Thanks for such a wonderful adventure! These are what I enjoy about multi caches! Great locations, friends and the stories you gather along the way!

I've had this cache in my gps for a long time. RPieperco mentioned working on it so I asked if he wanted to go get the final today. We found a trail that got us quite close and had to do very little bush whacking to get there, coming back we went straight down the hill though and made the trek more interesting. Sl, thanks!

Was out and about for the day and decided to head in the general area where the 2nd stage was (I'd found the 1st stage a little while back, had to do it twice since the hide is an atypical one). The 2nd stage was a great hike with some nice views, loved the boulder fields! After working the field puzzle (a nice one) and seeing the "short" distance to the next stage I started yamping my way toward it. Since I haven't done as many like this as I should have I was working a little more than I should have (sucking wind). The "trail" leading to the final is more game trail than anything. The real fun began when I was on the states rock (scree) and the slope was about 70 degrees. A nice hike up with a beautiful view! The hike down was much faster with less heart pounding for some reason. TFTC.
