This cache is being placed in memory of my friend from high school, Jason T. Smith. He gave his life for our country and our freedom. I want him to be remembered for the hero that he was.  Jason joined the Marines right out of high school. He never met a stranger. He loved life, he loved people, and he was proud to be a Marine. He was a member of the Marines EOD Corp. He served two deployments in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.  Jason served in the Marines for a decade. His job was to track down and disable explosives.  "He chose to be EOD because their mission out there was critical for the success of everyone else out there, and even though he knew it was the most dangerous job you could possibly choose in the Marine Corps, he still did it."

He was killed in action on November 19, 2010 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province.  Gone my friend, but never forgotten.

His awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Listen to this song if you get a chance and reflect on the sacrifices that our soldiers make for us.  Thank you to all the soldiers that have paid the ultimate price so we can live free.

I will be showing the logs to Jason's mom, if that encourages your log to be different  :)

I tried to find a hiding spot close to the Marine recruiting center, this was about as close as I could get!  I recommend bringing gloves for this cache. The bush is really pokey without gloves. Park in the parking space right next to the bush to enable stealth mode.  Bring your own pen!

This is a love tribute. I am so sorry that family had their star change from Blue to Gold. Thank you for placing this cache in Sgt Smith's memory. From a Blue Star Mom whose son is serving at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Had to dodge some muggles, but we made the find without drawing too much attention. Stealth mode was activated

Great cache with a great message.

I was out on another bike ride and as is my custom I did some caching as well. Thanks to CoSnowBunny for another creative cache and with the bonus of a wonderful dedication to Sargent Smith, who made the ultimate sacrifice for us all! Semper Fi!!!
