This one is a nice short walk with a good view of the area surrounding the cache. It can be a quick one to add to your list if you are in the Nederland area for a day of cache-bagging.
If you follow the directions I provide, it will take you on a short loop on old logging trails for most of the way. Glacier Lake is on private land, and although you will have a nice view of it you will not be able to visit it. If you choose not to follow the route I provide below, do not approach the cache from the SE in order to avoid the private land.

For parking, turn east onto a small dirt road off of Hwy 72 at N 40 01.456 W 105 30.945. Watch carefully as this comes up quick and is very easy to drive by the first time. Take a quick right and park at N 40 01.415 W 105 30.857. The dirt road is very easy, and the steep part at the turn off is the toughest part – most cars should be able to handle it. However, if you prefer not to do the dirt road you can park off of Hwy 72 at N 40 01.360 W 105 30.903 (don’t block the gate), walk north across the road and into the woods to the suggested parking point.

From the suggested parking point, head N.E. At N 40 01.443 W 105 30.816 the logging road should begin to become apparent. Follow this track NE, then N until N 40 01.670 W 105 30.700, where you should turn east.

At about N 40 01.585 W 105 30.421 leave the trail and head for the cache at coordinates given above. You can leave the trail a little earlier and it will be a bit shorter, but also a little bit steeper. Cache is a green ammo box with "GEOCACHE" written on the sides.

After finding the cache go to N 40 01.521 W 105 30.553 . Here, you will be near the corner of the private property, and you will also find a trail to lead you towards the west. At N 40 01.564 W 105 30.670 you will take the trail SW back down to the parking area.

First on a day of adventure with my geocaching buddy, my niece. Great cache. Off the beaten path but not too difficult. The directions were perfect.TFTC

Can't believe nobody has found this one (on purpose) in the last four years. The ammo can and logbook are still in great shape. The hike in and finding the cache were both pretty easy. The hardest part was manually typing in the extra coordinates into my GPSr :)

Whilst hunting on snowshoes found 30 cal ammo box under small pile of rocks. Contents dry, love Colorado weather. Previous log entry in 2013. View of 4 Mile, Glacier Lake (a reservoir) neighborhood, Niwot Ridge, and hills to east.

I wasn't expecting quite as much snow as I found; came down from Estes Park, where there's less on the ground. For a while I was afraid the cache was buried under some small drifts, but eventually I realized my GPS was zeroing out a little below where I really needed to be. Once I got that right, there was the cache, big and bold and under no snow whatsoever.

Enjoyed the walk, but the snow hid some of the logging roads so there was some plain old bushwhacking involved. It wasn't bad at all, though, just a little wetter on the trail shoes than expected. But I got the goods! TFTC

We found it. Actually we were out randomly hiking this past winter and stumbled across it. We had no idea what goecaching was until we read the note. We're in.

The directions were so detailed, we decided to trust our instincts and our GPS. Absolutely beautiful view. I recommend bringing a lunch and sticking around to enjoy the view.

Nice view all the way out to the plains. Normally when passing by here I've been on my way home after a long hike and just couldn't bring myself to do one more short hike. Today I came to the area to get some caches involving several short hikes. Picked a great fall day!

Great view from this cache! I really appreciated the extra waypoints in the directions. This was a fairly arduous hike, and in reflection I think a higher terrain rating would be applicable - perhaps a 3 or 3.5. I took a geocoin to help it move along. TFTC!
