Scenic view  Available during winter  Medium hike (1km-10km)

There are several ways to get up here, some shorter and steeper and others longer and less steep. You can take the "blue" trail or the "yellow/orange" one.
Container is a plastic first aid kit with some of the original contents as well as a trackable, some coins and Olympic pins.
It was a very windy day and I had seen the well constructed shelter ( see photo ), 60 meters to the west, so the following lyrics by Bob Seger kept running through my mind:
"Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter against the wind."
Hence the name of the cache.

!!! Congrats to BobFireman on the FTF !!!!

Started an epic caching weekend by checking out the fire tower, then meandering south along Rampart Range Road. Met up with Billkat and GoMRT for a fun hike this morning. Holy cow, this took some serious twister-like contortions, but I eventually had the container in hand! I don't know how some people reach this! Thanks for placing this challenging cache!

I watched and encouraged Kerewin in her contortions to grab this cache while GoMRT stayed back on the trail nursing a painful knee. Tftc!

My first day climbing in the altitude of Colorado, and didn't have a map of the trails so wasn't sure which caches I would end up at. Taking the Blue trail brought me here. Went "Pole Pole", but still felt the exertion of climbing. Went right round the cache at least twice before working out how to get to it. Big ants here seemed very interested in the food I had for lunch. Another cache close by took me down the orange trail which was more adventurous than the blue one.

Last time I was up this trail was back in 09 and up here today for a few new hides added to the area.

The shelter is very cool and a great place to take a break and have a snack or two.

Anyway I was able to grab the container with the help of natural TOTTs laying around.

Thanks for the cache!

Although I have been in the area before, I really haven’t had the opportunity to explore this trail system and try the many caches in the area. That changed today while goofing around with GoMRT and RPeiperCO. While this Geo-Rat pack might be a motley crew, we were trying to pick up as many as we could while heading for a special cache. While I didn’t appreciate the extra half-mile hike just get to the trail-head, this trail network is really nice…I’m sorry haven’t spent more time back here until today. I've seen a number of these alpine "shelters," but this one was truly outstanding. It made me want to get a few chickens and goats and go into hermit mode. The cache was a different matter. While we zoned in on the location pretty quickly, retrieving it proved to be another matter all together. After RPieperCO and I both qualified for the contortionist finals, we were still empty with no cache in hand. At this point, it was clear to me that more grunting was required, so I got to it. I soon had the cache in hand, but was hanging on in a precarious position. Having difficulty extracting myself, I looked at RPieperCO and said, "hand me the whip." Looking back at me, when he replied, "hand me the idol Indy, then I will throw you the whip" I knew I was in trouble and would have rather been chased by blow gun shooting natives than have to deal with this. Regardless, we soon were able to do what we came for. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find and giving me a good excuse to revisit this trail network, TFTC.

Thanks for this fun and really tough cache! We were grateful GoMRT was present for this one! Luckily he had already done the hard work!

So we had been planning to do Blodgett's Shadow today but a combination of bad weather and a loss of one of our hikers made for a change of plans. I still had half a day scheduled off work and with an FTF hanging out there we just had to go this route to grab it and all the others that we needed.

Met up at noon and carpooled up to the parking coords. Always lively conversation with GoMRT and KTrackers!! All the way the temperature dropped and clouds got darker. I was a bit nervous as we set out not sure what the next few hours might do.

We found all but one cache along the way and very grateful GoMRT had found most of them as the assist in a few places was really appreciated!

This was our third cache of the day. We crested the saddle and followed the trail further up the hill. We came across the namesake of this cache and spent some time poking around the shelter and marveling at the hard work someone put into it. Well made and will surely stand the test of time and possibly help some poor souls during a rainstorm or blizzard! From there we headed to the cache and GoMRT stayed back a bit while KTrackers and I did our best to fumble around on the rocks. I think a water bottle might have even been temporarily lost again... Well with a few hot colds being shouted down to us from above I finally spotted it. Can you imagine me not being able to get to a cache? I tried two different approaches and just couldn't reach it. Ktrackers was able to position just right and by only fingertips recovered it. We signed the log and replaced as found.

Off to the next cache and hopefully FTF!!

Thanks again for placing this for us all to enjoy!

Great geocache! I was able to get the Magellan to zero feet up there without issue. Once I did that, I just had to think where would I hide this geocache. It was right where I would put it! Excellent hide, great hike up here as I hear The Rolling Stones and Bob Seger battling in my head! TFTC!
