A cache at a spectacular spot with a simple puzzle container.

Tenney Crags has breathtaking panoramic views and is on my list of mandatory hikes for those that are able. It's up there with Sentinel Point. We came up Seven Bridges, through Jones Park and down Bear Creek Canyon to what I'm calling the Tenney Crags Trail. You could also come up Bear Creek the whole way. Turn North at the waypoint and follow the trail up the valley. The upper trail gets faint but has cairns. Make sure to turn left at the other waypoint or you will end up at the bottom of the cliffs and have to circle around. Our route was a little less than 10 miles round trip and worth every step.

The white PVC pipe summit log is not the cache. Please be gentle with the container; it shouldn't take too long to solve. The outside is small sized but there's only room inside for geocoins or tiny trackables. Perhaps someone can bring a short pencil to leave since I forgot to include something to write with. If the coordinates seem off try the ones ernie66 posted in his log (N 38° 48.336 W 104° 55.571) and log the coords you get at GZ.

Congratulations to ernie66 and estes01 for being FTF.

Found with Java Chip. After completing the puzzle twice I was putting the door back on and it appears I must have broke the clasp that holds the door shut. I'm sorry!!!!!! It's such a fun cache! TFTC!

If I am reading the National Forest Service information correctly they plan to close Bear Creek Trail next year and prevent access to us lowly humans. I figured I had better go and find this one before the trails close for good. I parked at the parking area above Helen Hunt Falls and took Buckhorn Trail to trail 666. I turned off at the 1st WP and the trail got much steeper. The trail was fairly nice which I found a little surprising. At the second WP I tried to follow the cairns but I lost them so I made my way to the top. Once I crested the ridge I found the trail again and made my way to the top. Once at GZ I remembered the spoiler picture which I had forgotten to print off so I wasn't going to have any advantage today. With the hike being so long I was determined to not leave empty handed. After about 30 minutes I sat down and read the description and saw a reference to Ernie's coordinates. Lucky for me Ernie's log was one of the last 5 logs (5th) so I went and searched his coordinates. I made the find after a short search and then sat down to solve the puzzle. After signing the log I enjoyed the views and after awhile started back down the trail. My GPS recorded a little over a 10 mile hike. TFTC.

Eric, some input on that wicked cache container...when Ernie and I went up there, the lid was off. Ernie was able to get it to engage after fussing with a bit. When WingsAndTales found the cache, I watched while she attempted to solve "the puzzle" (she is very good at these things) and figured that the lid was secure. Not so sure, as she had a problem getting it back together. Wonder if it would be worth another trip for you :-) I'd say it was because this is just a fantastic hike with an incredible view.

Found it using ernie66's coords and even then it would have been tough without the spoiler photo. It was had to get the latch to engage when I was putting it back but finally got it. Nothing is broken but it just didn't want to hold the lid shut. There are a lot more rock cairns up here since the last time I did this hike which was about 7 years ago. Coming from the caretaker's house at the bottom of High Dr it was just over 10 miles and 3600' of elevation all for one cache. It was really getting hot when we got back down. It must be time to head for the high country. TFTC
