Ranidaphobia is the fear of frogs and toads (from ranidae, the most widespread family of frogs), and a superstition common to the folkways of many cultures. According to some, the sight of a frog may be a bad omen. As well, a common myth says that touching frogs and toads may give one warts. (In many other cultures, frogs are considered a good omen.) A survey carried out by researchers from the Johannesburg Zoo have shown that in modern times old superstitions play a less significant role and modern children are more concerned whether frogs are poisonous or harmless.

Phobia against frogs often happens after seeing frogs die violently. One case of severe fear of frogs has been described in Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry in 1983: a woman developed an extreme fear of frogs after a traumatic incident in which her lawn mower ran over a group of frogs and killed them.

Not my day. It was snowy though, so it might have been buried.

This was a challenge, especially with the confusing log from the FTF. We ended up looking far to far away trying to follow their notes. Finally came back to my 1st nearest GZ reading & started to think like a frog & viola! There he was but well hidden. My GPS settled at 14’ at GZ which is pretty good as the best accuracy reading I got down here was +/- 33’. Thanks for a cache we could ride to & a fav point.

My first FTF! We hiked up cliffs, across waterfalls, with trail horses and through the brush to get to this one! What a day! The cache was hard to find because my GPS and compass apps put me 40 feet to the west of it. After thinking about the cache theme, my daughter suggested to look near the river, so we did that for a while. Eventually I thought to look between the two points for what I expected the cache to be like. True to the theme and to the 1.5 difficulty (don’t scratch yourself in the bushes like I did - no need to go in there) I found it! Yippeee!

Thanks for the fun cache. And I finally got someplace the FTF hounds/hoarders didn’t get to!!!! A great experience with my daughter, too! Now for an hour and a half hike back to the car! Whew!
