SPOILER: The tree near the cache site

A good hiking trail most of the way, although narrow, the cache is located in Mount Galbraith Park. Trail provides great views of the plains, downtown Denver and Golden. Elevation gain of about 600 feet from parking area.
The trail to the cache can be accessed by either just a short drive up Golden Gate Canyon Road or from residential area in Golden. I suggest parking at the trailhead for Cedar Gulch Trail at N 39.46.413 and W 105.15.243. From here follow the well marked trail until you connect with the Mt. Galbraith Loop (about 1.3 miles). If you plan your hike you can follow this trail until the last 220 feet or so depending on your preferences.

I replaced the container and refurbished the cache on 5-18-03. The cache is now a standard ammo box. I would have rated this a two but it is hard to get a good fix on the GPS close to the cache site. Depending on your conditioning, you may find this easier or harder.

 Hints

If you follow loop trail, when you start moving away from site and see downtown and a red Coors sign you can see a large rock formation south and east. Stay east of the formation and look for a small pine tree (about 18 inches tall) just a few feet from cache. You do not need to go to the top of the formation.

Took some time to get up there, but made the find. Thankfully, I had read in a previous log that it was necessary to go over a downed tree and that was just the hint I needed since the GPS was bouncing around. Took a travel bug and made my way back to flatter ground. Definitely don't have to worry about muggles when searching for this one! Thanks for the cache.

TFTC You are right, the GPS is off and the tree is a little more than 18 inches but the cache is there and it's dry.

Found with Java Chip. We thought we would venture down from the top but it's probably better from below. TFTC!

So cool to find an old one. I think a tree recently came down that you now have to climb over to get to the cache, it wasn't too much of an issue. Traded bugs while I was here. TFTC. On to the next.

Found while hiking in the area with Bhob to continue our Trailmix series adventures.

This was my favorite of the day, because I love hiking in places I have never been before, love finding OLD caches, and ammo cans. Thanks for keeping this one active for so long. Let me know if you ever need any help maintaining this one so it can be around for another 15 years!

Gets a FAVE from me!

EDIT: forgot to drop TB, put in log ziploc for next finder to move along. Didn't see the other to trackables logged here.

Thanks for the cache! Found on a nice hike on Mt. Galbraith with geodog Dakota. There are no TBs in the cache. Left a pathtag and heartstone. SL.

The box was sitting out on a ledge, I put it back in original spot and recovered.

Looked in the wrong place for a few but found it easy enough once in the right area. Started to rain, but we kept the log dry. T magnet L 0.20€. Tftc!
