For those of you who are star chasers, this cache used to be a challenge to cachers who had attained an average difficulty and terrain rating of 2 or higher. Groundspeak no longer allows challenge caches like this as it discourages people from finding caches with D/T ratings lower than a 2. I was able to work around this issue and get the cache published by allowing all cachers to log this cache. The challenge of getting and keeping a 2/2 and above rating is difficult, and the old cache gave star chasers an opportunity to share the adventures they had while qualifying for this challenge.

Recently I noticed that some caches being published have D/T ratings that are higher than they should be in order to meet the challenges of other caches. This diminished the purpose of my challenge and I archived it. That was stupid, because all of those wonderful stories and experiences were lost. I was unable to reinstate the cache because of updated Groundspeak rules, so I decided to make it a new traditional with a link to the original cache page: https://coord.info/GC3YHXC. These stories are amazing and worth reading.

Originally started on the trail to sign the Month of Mysteries challenge but it was such a perfect day to be out hiking I decided to head up and get this new cache. I had been working on the original challenge but never quite made it. This is the first time I’ve been on this trail and one of the first times I’ve wished for a trekking pole. Lot’s of loose gravel made the descent a little nerve racking. Was glad on made it down standing up. Thanks estes01 for the new cache for me to log.

I came into intel recently that this GC was published after its forefather was archived. I will go up to sign this one much as I did the original one with a smile that the 49th parallel border can't even stop! God Bless US 2 in WA State! I may even pull out my original log too and just paste it here when I do sign it because of the people and memories associated with it.

Here is to my favorite Canadian and one of the greatest & most versatile military pilots one ever saw (turn my ring into carbon?!)!

Had permission to check on this one (and beta sign it) a few hours before it published. This trail was surprisingly busy, perhaps because the Incline is closed. Glad to see this fine cache back on the map - it sure was a fun challenge to work toward!

I am happy to report that since signing the original, I have maintained the 2/2 qualification - now sitting at 2.07D/2.04T.

Out early this morning for some exercise up and down.

I was at home for 42 days straight until yesterday and now I have been out two in a row.

I didn’t see any stars ?? while up here on the trail, wait a minute I saw the sun ?? rise so I did see one big ??.
