There are no clues at the posted coords, but the posted coords are on Barr Trail to keep you on track. Your challenge, should you accept it, is to solve two additional puzzles along the way to the final. I have placed clues in the two additional stops. I will tell you this much, you will need to find your Magnetic Bearings and the Final Distance from the two stops, so you can find the final logbook. So read your maps and pay close attention to what is revealed at each stop.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following aids could be helpful in your search:
1) a GPS to find the parking and the two initial stops along the trail, before the final logbook
2) Standard Baseplate Compass and a good Map of the area along the Barr Trail
3) Protractor and Ruler
4) Compass (aka Divider)
5) a little knowledge of how to plot locations on a map using either UTM's (easiest) or Latitude and Longitude will make the search for this elusive cache a wee bit easier.
6) I have four maps of the Pikes Peak area, and all four have a slightly difference Declination Variance, pending the detail; so pay attention to your map. (If you are working with your GPS or using mapping software via a laptop while in the field, for the purpose of this challenge, please use a Variance of 10.0°)
7) a Mountain Bike, or a good set of Boots or Trail Running Shoes
8) and bonus knowledge goes to the five local geocachers who have already completed the following geocache: (GC13648)
*(A big round of applause goes out to Tohosa for placing his original cache, and for him allowing me to use his idea in the Pikes Peak area.)

(Puzzle #1) "Spivey's Epic Ride with Mr. Brown" (This puzzle is listed below, and you can check your answers for this puzzle @ Geochecker.com.)

(Puzzle #2) "Soak up the Sun" (You will find this puzzle at your first stop, and if you have access to the Internet, then you can check your answers for this puzzle @ Geochecker.com.)

I suspect some might be able to solve the various puzzles in the field and assuming you have Internet access, you can check your final coords (plus or minus 25 feet) @ Geochecker.com. But then again, I suspect it might take most another trip up the mountain. If so, then at least know that I have left a few other geocaches in the area to keep your interest.

*Please note: the Difficulty and Terrain ratings are based on the combination of the three puzzles and the total number of miles that you will have to travel to get to all three stops, not to mention that some geocachers might have to travel parts of the same trail three times.

**Upon gathering feedback from the initial geocachers, I'll then add additional hints, as they are needed.

***I am not into the guarantee business, but I suspect that the geocachers who are able to add their names to the final logbook, they will not be disappointed with the various views. If this sounds like too much work, then hit the ignore button. Thanks and Happy Caching to you!!!

 Hints

Out of respect for the 5/5 rating, please do not leave any hints in your logs...oh and one more thing, when searching for the final, you might want to look up on the table top, and then under some rocks...small ammo can.

Hi- I did some more work on the puzzle, and though I never measured coord's with my GPS when/where I found the a/c... I did finally get a "success" from the checker- without the 'within 25 feet' stipulation added. The spot where the can is currently well-hidden, is easily 60- 70 feet northwest of the checker coord's.

OOOHHhh-AHHH !!! The original ammo can and all its contents unmolested!!!
It seems like I've been after this one for years-- mainly because I have !! BigSmile BigSmile BigSmile BigSmile BigSmile BigSmile

The saga has meant six hikes up the Barr just for the effort; as well as Intel gathered on one other hike as well. Today's was a grabbed opportunity while I was running a 'Perry/ '360' errand farther away . Those had turned out well; the day's afternoon T-storms had played themselves out; and as long as it was a short detour on the way out I said "what the he!!".
In contrast with my last visit to the final area I happened to scramble and look under the right place reasonably quickly. Nearly yelled out loud at the sight of the can under there. The log has a hikers' entry/ chance find from around 2014; I grabbed the Red Jeep & photo'd the log & CO's proxy All-81 coin.

Coolest thing: 51 weeks ago I went in for the first of combined Chemo/ radiation days... and three months back, to the day, was the last surgery to cut the remains of that crap out of my head! Makes this one damned good day so far as I'm concerned !!!

Well, my hat's in the ring. I couldn't make a whole bunch of sense of the puzzle for 'Epic Ride', but the spoiler photo spoiled it! It was an amazing winter day to sit up here enjoying the view; couldn't believe tracks in the snow from someone here yesterday!!
This stage is in perfect shape; I grabbed a puzzle piece for 'Soak...' And noted the coordinates to see if I can 'reverse - engineer' the puzzle here & learn how to proceed. See you later in the springSmile

29Jan Well I still can't seem to gnaw my way through the puzzle... but did put enough info together to get a thumbs up from the checker for Soak Up the Sun now. My paper maps are ordered; and I can't wait for our next visit! Cheers, ORO

Got a big strike one on S.U.T.S. today... A nice long walk up and a long search with no spoilers in hand and plenty of snow to hamper things. Eventually I wrenched my knee pretty good which turned the end of the search into the beginning of a long retreat down the Barr. Still, it went better than for the guy laying flat on his back a ways below the junction of the top of the incline- El Paso Co S&R was mobilizing a large extraction force from the parking lot ... my first time to see someone (quite talented) riding a motorcycle UP !!!
See you later this summer :)

09JUN - Avenged the dip from a month ago on ' Soak up - ' : the stage is in perfect shape with good coord's ,,, not nearly the trouble with snow gone! Now the revenge part starts; as I sit & look the final clues over; while 'bleeble- bleeble- bleebling my lips up and down with my extended finger.

Angry Angry Bloody HE!! - there's half a year gone. I dnf'd about as dn as a person could f. For Starters, I never solved either of the stage puzzles ... went to both and couldn't even make heads or tails of what to do with the info given at them. So I had to simply go to the final location and search & sear... -yeah, you read that right: I went to the final location!.... search for 45 minutes. Up on top. Down off the sides. Belly down & head inverted over the edges. Hands & knees to look under all the boulders ( no mean feat, because my knee still isn't right from the May visit to Soak Up The Sun).
Eventually I found an ancient piece of lumber sawn off on one end & with two large old nails driven through it. It was waayyyy back under a ledge behind some evergreens on the NE side and when I first caught a glimpse of it I was ready to whoop !! Alas, all's else I found were campfire pit ashes and cigarette butts. Frown
Just for the fun of it I went off down the east slope in a totally random search for the original... knowing nothing about "airborne assists", or how Barr Camp folks could possibly have once shed light on it all. It would have been the world's record for "No possible way !! " geocaching if I'd found it ... I had to settle for a 3 foot long, 1-inch diameter steel bolt with a huge hex nut rusted on one end.... had to weigh every bit of seven pounds. Really makes you wonder sometimes. Just a couple pic's of 'Ol' 2-nails' and some predecessors....

Oh, plus I eventually went to 'Epic Ride' so many times that I found the trail !!!! All that bushwhacking and there is a trail !!! You bet I'm gonna try & ride it one of these days Cool This entry was edited by OR85OR450 on Tuesday, 14 July 2015 at 23:49:52 UTC.

We didn't ride it but it was certainly epic. I wanted to get some practice before going Geo-teering with Denali41 and he suggested this cache. In April after finally solving the first part kenyansherpa and I set out to give it a shot. We found the first stop and managed to solve for the second spot. When we got there it became apparent that we had done something wrong. After lunch and more work with the maps we got a solution that made more sense. At "Soak up the Sun" it took us a while to realize that we were in the right place. The tree in the spoiler photo has been blown over. We were pressed for time and couldn't find the cache. I had to make a return trip to the first stop on another day after realizing we had not gotten a critical piece of information.

Two months later and wiser in the ways of maps thanks to Denali41 we set out to finish this one off. We went back to "Soak up the Sun" and made the find relatively quickly. I'm not sure why we didn't look there the first time. We must have just been in too big a hurry. Now that we had all the required info, the solution was soon revealed. I loved the final spot and wished we could have spent more time but the weather had other ideas. We certainly learned a lot along the way to finding this cache. Thanks for a good reason to spend more time on my favorite mountain. TFTC

WingsandTales and I started this earlier in the spring as a warm-up for some Tahosa caches. We got part way thru, struggled to find a stage and ran out of time. Subsequently, went north and Geoteered with Denali41 on the Tahosa caches and glad I did as no way I could have finished this one without the training of that day! Karen, on the other hand, I think could have done it regardless ( she certainly gets credit for the heavy lifting on this one). Anyway, today found the stage that had eluded us ( it is in great shape ) and made it to the final. We wanted to assist Spivey by finding the original but due the the impending lightning, rain and sleet storm, we could only do a cursory look on the approach and retreat from the final and thus signed the replacement. Thanks for bringing a map and compass style cache to the area!
