Small-sized cache placed on "North Sundance Mountain."
For some reason, this peak doesn't receive as much credit as its neighbor, Sundance Mountain. North Sundance is jut shy of being 100 feet higher in elevation than Sundance Mountain. Hopefully this cache will draw a few more people to another cool spot on the front range.

You can expect a round trip hike of a little under 3 miles, from the parking coordinates listed below. Follow the road/trail up to the Lower Reservoir, and then turn North on a faint trail just after you pass the watershed. Follow this trail to the top of Sundance, and then go another .2 miles North on the trail to North Sundance.

For the cache:
Find the cairn that marks the top of North Sundance (much cooler than Sundance's summit cairn) and go West/Southwest for about 60 feet. There is a small rock outcropping here, with the cache hidden in a crevice in the rocks. See the spoiler photo for more help.

Have fun and enjoy the hike!

What a nice spot nearby for a picnic lunch with a view of Palmer Lake below. Simply amazing how many coal trains go by during a day. The cache clue made this an easy find, and thanks for sharing this cool summit. TNLN

It was a beautiful morning for a hike, so we decided to explore the scenic trails west of Palmer Lake. We hiked up from the lower reservoir to get the Sundance Mountain cache first, then continued west aong the "Backwoods Trail" until we got to the the Bearing Tree cache. We didn't go after the Backwoods #1 cache since it had a few recent DNFs by experienced cachers. The trails were snowpacked and icy so we were thankful that we had brought along our trekking poles. All containers and logs were in great shape. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches.

Out playing around today and decided to explore Sundance. Nice hike and views. And it's always fun to see what a difference in noise levels occurs when you drop down the back side of the ridge just a few feet. Even better - I was the only one up here!

Thanks for putting this cache up!
