I managed to pick this one up on the inbound leg of what I’ll call overnight Sentinel Loop+, taking the free / hard way. I’ve never been here before, so I appreciate the nice caches along the route to serve as my motivation. I came up to this one directly from GC48GE5 Mountain Micro 62. I wasn’t sure of the best route to take or if what I called “the secret spur trail” connected back down to 704c. Thought maybe if I followed the ridge and then down the spur I would come out right by cache. Instead, I just plunged down the draw with light bushwhacking and made a bee line for where I knew the 704c trail was. Oddly, a parade of about 10 teenagers with packs passed by me while I was signing. Based on their pack size, I presume they all spent the night somewhere further up the trail. This is the last cache I found before I started what I called “Operation Suck,” up the trail to GC1HDC9 JEEPS Are Us…

It was a great bonus that this one hasn’t been found for almost two years, because I keep track of lonely cache stats for challenges. With this find, I now have (counting only 1 year or more lonely) a total of 183 years, 5 months lonely time on 82 caches from 11 North American States & Provinces. As I keep logging all of this cache lonely time, I find myself wondering what has happened? This cache (and the others back here) averaged 4 – 5 visits from 2014 – 2017…then nothing. Perhaps it is what I see in global stats and my own perception…geocaching is on a downtrend and slowly dying. I’m sure part of it is saturation, only so many hiking cachers in a given area, but you would think there would be more vists. I’ll leave smarter geocachers to ponder that mystery.

Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find, TFTC.

This trail is pretty wet in the early spring. Not so bad you can't make it without getting wet though.

Found it on a beautiful Fall day hike. Lots of red leaves on the aspens in this area. A great path to take for Fall aspens
