Time to go for another walk in the open space, before the next snow storm - this was the second of four geocaches that I found along the way. TN-LN-SL. Thanks !

After finding the Bonzai, I decided to head west and keep my elevation in order to locate this one. Well, I had to go uphill a little, but was able to get close without too much difficulty. I made one circle through the area, finding the biggest cave (which smelled somewhat of skunk) and peeked in a couple of smaller openings, which could only be marginally considered caves (seems pretty common that geocachers overstate the degree of "caveness" in where they hide geoccahes). The i read the logs and realized the previous cacher took largely the same route through all the nooks and crannies and found it the second time. So I did the same.

This one! I headed over here from Bergen Bonzai Deux and tried to maintain my altitude as I cut over. About 70 feet from the GZ I found a cave that seemed to match the description. I picked around, but didn't see the container. Then I noticed something strange. Glistening dark bubbles on the rocks and piles of strong smelling scat. Then I saw a bone. My mind went to my greatest fear - a mountain lion. (Now sitting in luxury on my couch my mind tells me it was coyotes). But that put the boogie in my step. I checked the app again and noticed my mistake. Found the right cave, but still couldn't make the find. I reached and them shimmied inside, but nothing. Then, as I stood up and looked in with my flashlight I saw what I had missed. It was literally inches from my face just a minute ago. Well done!
What a journey! After work I sped westward through the mountains in hope of an FTF. Rush hour traffic wasn't too bad, especially after I passed Golden. I arrived at the trailhead at 4:40 pm
A quick check and -oh no! They have been found. At least the first 4. I didnt plan on attempting the more difficult ones because of limited daylight. But now I must. The trail was steep and parts were icy. I am prepared for most circumstances while hiking. There was one point in the dark where I was pretty alarmed. I managed to grab 5 today before I returned to the trailhead at 6:50 pm.
Thanks for another amazing mountain adventure!
