This cache is located on BLM lands north of Rifle. Best access is up the Estes Gulch road, park at the green gate.
This cache is located on a ridge overlooking the Estes Gulch rock pile. This pile was created as part of the DOE’s Uranium Mill Tailings Remediation Program. In 1994 & 1995 the DOE relocated 3.8 million cubic yards of mill tailings to this site. The disposal cell is approximately 87’ thick from its highest to its lowest points, stands nearly 80 feet above the surrounding terrain and covers approximately 71 acres. Construction of the cell was completed in 1996.

The cache is an ammo can and was originally filled with log, American flag, silly putty, sunglasses, dinosaur, pencil, crayons, Sparky magnet, compass, frog, four coins, shackle and a bolt.

Congratulations to DARR for the FTF :0)

We have been out here three times, but different circumstances never let us find the cache. So glad we made it back. Worth the wait so we put a geo-coin in that we had been holding on to for a special place. Thanks so much!

We could see we're the can was. But I guess a hunter needed it more then geocache. Nothing was found anywhere around except one army figurine.
