Recently, I was asked by veteran geocacher Vorticity if I wanted to try birding. It seemed a crazy idea at first, but the more I look into it, the more the two pastimes seem similar. When I received this container as a holiday gift from my daughter, I immediately knew where to hide it!

Out crashing through the woods, wading through tall grass, or following a shoreline, a geocacher and a birder are both looking for that elusive one. Whether it's Get The T-Shirt or the Pacific Wren, most attempts are unsuccessful and that makes it all the more rewarding when it's finally found.

Billkat did the hard work before I got there. I guess I won’t be needing my gloves after all.

There is no better way to start off the new year than to go on a walkabout that includes finding an Ernie 66 cache :-) And good luck to Ernie as Vorticity (Rick) launches him into the new hobby of bird watching. I have no doubt he will be just as successful in that endeavor as the legend that he has become in the geocaching circle! All in well with the container and the log sheet.

I'll be back when the dogs shut up I guess.

Looking at the chart, I can see how similar birding is to geocaching. This morning, I had the pleasure of going birding with the veteran geocache mentioned. He is a wealth of knowledge. I learned more about identifying birds and even got some “life birds” today!
Thanks Ernie for this cache and the really cool container!

Found it with DarthRitalin (OK, he found it while I was looking in the wrong spot) while in the area for the Wednesday event. Very nice container, and also very nice to see the CO and estes01 on the paved trail very near GZ.

Was looking when a few other cachers showed up and did all the work so all I had to do was sign. This could be very hard after the sun goes down. Turtle thanks!

What a cute container; guess your daughter knows what you like. This was a short walk to GZ from the excellent event that I just attended. Thanks for the geo-fun.
