Two of my favourite activities are Trail running and Geocaching and I often like to combine the two by picking up a cache while out on a trail run. This Cache is part of a series that I will be creating that combine a Geocache with a favourite running trail in and around Colorado Springs, CO. You don't have to run the trail to get these Caches but bonus points if you traildo.

This trail is one of the most popular in the area for runners, hikers and bikers. The loop trail is about 5 1/2 miles. Parking is available at the main Trailhead on Gold Camp Road or at additional pullouts along Gold Camp Road or at the intersection with High Road which is gated off to traffic. The loop can be done in either direction. If you start at the main Trailhead there is a steep climb for 1 1/2 miles followed by a nice gradual downhill down to High Road. If you start by going up High Drive it is a nice steady climb with a steep downhill to finish.

We've hiked this trail a few times over the years. Nice to have another excuse to come back up here. My son hiked with me today. 2.15 miles one way from high drive and we did it in an hour. Excellent timing for him! Now to head back down. Sl, thanks!

Need to get in some late logs- on a couple of my wife & my recent visits our internet was sketchy; and we've been swamped otherwise. I made a circuit to here & points southwest; figures another one would appear- higher up- after I was gone Shock

I started here after a leisurely stroll up from Sec16 parking. Then made a blanket-search after my Garmin was waffling between 20 and 60 feet - in every damn direction imaginable !!! No fun when this little tyke is the goal!

Very nice hide!

Coords are spot on for this geocache in a beautiful quartz rock garden. As much as I hate flipping rocks for a geocache, this was a good search that took me a bit longer than I thought it would. In the end, you'll see barrel cactus up there so watch where you step in addition to a lightning strike scar (see attached photo). Tftc up here!

I used to run/walk the Section 16/RR Loop long before I was a cacher. Just walking it now is more than enough exercise. It took us much longer than expected to find this cache even though the coords were good. Looking forward to doing the others in the running trail series. If I find a flat trail, I'll run it. TFTC!

Estes01 and I needed a short hike close by so we chose the Palmer loop. I always forget just how long the loop is to hike, especially the road at the end. We stopped at the cache and eventually found the well-hidden micro. TFTC!

Nothing like a nice hike to look for a new cache.

Parking was at a premium, does anyone work anymore?

Of course the trail was full also of hikers, joggers, dogs and bikers all going in the opposite direction.

Some how I survived the ordeal and was able to locate the container.

Thanks for the cache with some good old exercise to go with it!
