This quick puzzle should be easy for anyone who is camping around Carter Lake or just going for a drive in the area. You will not have to pay any fees to access this cache. You will, however, need to understand basic math to do this puzzle.
Congrats OneKindWord on FTF!
When I was a young moose, my father taught me how to play a fun sport. I used to watch it on our Moose-a-vision too, which always had poor reception in the mountains. However, one day he brought me a sports magazine, and told me to search through it, find my favorite team, and find my favorite player. I quickly scanned the teams, picked one out, and of course chose the player with the highest stats at the time!
This puzzle is about that player. I will not give you his name, but based upon the clues I will give you, it should be very easy to find out whom he is.
For starters, Carter Lake is a place that reminded me of him every time we passed the signs while driving on Highway 34. Then, when I went for a drive down to the Lake, I noticed that the main road leading to Carter Lake was S. County Road 29! Its almost like this place was made for him!
He played for a team that rarely visits Colorado, and that team only begun visiting Colorado after he retired. When I chose him as my favorite player, there was no team in Colorado yet.
Now, once you figure out who I'm talking about, the next set of clues are very important, and should help you narrow down who the player is even more.
This player had a few very memorable years, which as his fan gave me huge things to root for!
He ended up being on the winning team in a World Series A times.
He hit a B-run Home run to win Game C of the 199D World Series, making it one of the most memorable home runs in many years.
The following season was cut short due to the Player's Strike, and had it not been for the strike, this player would have had his best all-around season yet! Even though he only played in E games, he ended up hitting F RBI's!
After the Player's Strike in 1994, neither this player nor his team ever got back to the World Series, but he wasn't done as a player yet!
Overall, he set some records here and there, but wasn't the most famous player out there. Personally, I got to see him play live only 2 times. Once in the Metrodome and once here in our new Team's stadium after it was built. He ended his season playing for a California Team that was in the same divison as our new local team, so I got to see him one last time in his final season!
He was the first player to hit over 100 RBI's for G consecutive teams in H consecutive years! (You're looking for the actual record he set here, not how many years total he hit 100 RBIs or how many years in a row. Think of it this way, G should = H because you are looking for how many teams he did this for in a row not overall)
He was the first player in his "League" to hit 3 Home runs in a single game I number of times!
He was an All-Star J times.
He was the Silver Slugger K times.
In 198L he was the league leader in RBIs with M.
He was the N pick of the O round of the 1981 draft.
He ended up playing for P number of teams by the end of his career.
His career statistics were Q Home Runs, R RBIs, in S hits, and T walks. (Intentional Walks are a separate statistic so don't count it here)
He was inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame in 200U, the same year he was eligible for the American Hall of Fame.
After his first year of being part of the Hall of Fame ballot, he only received V votes, which was W% of the total ballot, dropping him from future ballots altogether.
While he did have some great years, and some very memorable moments, he will never be able to make it to the American Hall of Fame, which is ok with me. I chose him as my favorite player regardless of where he ended up.
He did still manage to hit over 100 RBIs in X seasons which not many players can do, he never took steroids, and he was all-around good guy. Ever since I picked him as my favorite player, I've always used his main jersey number (Y) for my own sports, and it has been my lucky number (especially at the roulette table!)
The fact that he was born in the same month as me, which is the Z month of the year, just added to the fact that I already liked the guy. While I have a very huge collection of his cards, I never did get his autograph, and maybe someday I'll find a way to meet him in person and get him to sign his rookie card. I am glad I picked him as my favorite player, even if he will never make it to the hall of fame!
Now that you know more than you ever wanted to about my favorite player; use the numbers you found in the equations below to find the coordinates for the cache. I have used parenthases to help you do the math correctly, trying to rule out as much error as possible.
N a b.c
W d e.fg
a= (W * 10) + N
b= ((Y * I) - (V * P) ) - Z - J
c= (T * J) - S - E + I + J
d= F + K
e= X + U - A
f= (((C * L) / D) /H) + O
g= (((Q+M) * B) - R) / A
