Welcome to my Neighborhood. Please treat it like it was yours, as I
might be watching...
This is a wonderful little park in my neighborhood, so my children
wanted to hide a cache here. But since the city has a few rules
about actually hiding caches in city parks, I decided to make the
first stop a couple of virtuals, which should be easy to find
within the park. So please keep in mind, there are actually no
cache containers in this park. Please use the posted coords as
suggested parking. So when you arrive at the posted coords, you
will have to seek out two signs/plaques in the park. Off these
signs, you just have to answer a few simple questions. That is it,
now just head to the final. Oh and since you brought your children
to the park, please let them stay a while and enjoy it for a few
extra minutes, while you take in a wonderful view of Pikes
Peak.
Since this is a very popular park, use stealth when seeking out the
clues from the two park signs. I figured this would be easier on a
few cachers who do not have the option of using young children as
diversions, while caching in so called kid-friendly parks. I
suspect this cache should be a very easy cache for most people, but
then again the rating could go us, pending how well the last person
hid the cache.
The cache container with its minature logbook
may be found at these coords:
N38 56.ABC W104 44.DEF
Who was Buckskin Charlie?
Buckskin Charlie was the last traditional chief of the Southern
Ute. Entrusted by Chief Ouray in 1880 to lead the Ute into the 20th
Century, Buckskin Charlie inspired confidence in his people. He
served as a bridge between the old and new ways and counseled for
peace. He was known as a trustworthy and influential man.
Reportedly born near the Garden of the Gods, Buckskin Charlie
subsequently returned many times to the areas known as Colorado
Springs and Manitou Springs. In 1912 he dedicated the ancient Ute
Trial near Manitou Springs to future generations of all races. The
descendants of Buckskin Charlie still live on the Southern Ute
Reservation in Ignacio, Colorado, where he is buried.<<br>
A, B, & C ~ Chief Buckskin Charlie died on
May 8, 1 _
_ _ and was succeeded by his son, Antonio Buck, Sr. As
hereditary chief, Antonio Buck, Sr. became the first elected
Chairman of the Southern Ute Trail.
(In order to get "A &
B," please use the 2nd and 3rd digits from the year he died.) //
(In order to get "C," please add one (1) to the last digit, of the
year he died.)
D, E, & F ~ What was the date of the Buckskin Charlie
Park Dedication?
Friday, ________, _ _ , 2002. (In order to get "D &
E," take the month of the year and multiply this times five(5.)) //
(In order to get "F", please subtract nine (9) from the date of the
dedication.)
To make sure everyone actually visits the park, please use the
color of the Front Door of the house located on the N/E
corner of Interlaken and Stillwell, somewhere in your logs. You may
also use various other colors to throw others off. (I'll know which
color.)
Another reason for the name, at the time of placing this cache, I
needed an "F" and a "J" in order to complete a certain cache in
town. Well for the guys who have already cleaned out Colorado
Springs, then this is my Holiday Gift to you. The fact is there
just are not many options for these two letters without driving to
Denver. So you're welcome...
At the time of placement, my GPS was showing a +/- of 15 feet.
Please leave the cache where you found it, or maybe a little
better. Oh and one more thing, stay out of any park or neighborhood
landscaping. I love to view the various flowers, when in season, so
please do not destroy any of the landscaping. Thanks and Happy
Caching

**Congrats to Claudey for the FTF**
