The cache IS NOT at the above coordinates. Solve the EASY puzzle to find out where it is !
This is NOT a complicated puzzle – after all, you should Take It Slow, as the song says.
Attached is an image file that you can print on one sheet of paper that includes all of the information you need to get the coordinates to where the geocache is hidden. This will be “Fun Fun Fun” to be sure !
"Kokomo" is a song written by John Phillips, Scott McKenzie, Mike Love, and Terry Melcher and recorded by American rock band the Beach Boys. Its lyrics describe two lovers taking a trip to a relaxing place on Kokomo, an island off the Florida Keys. It was released as a single on July 18, 1988, by Elektra Records and became a No. 1 Hit in the United States, Japan, and Australia (where it topped for about two months). The single was released to coincide with the release of Roger Donaldson's film Cocktail, and its subsequent soundtrack.
Although Phillips had holidayed in the Caribbean several times on the island of Mustique, which was owned by his friend Colin Tennant, "Kokomo" itself is fictional. Although there are several places named Kokomo, including Kokomo, Indiana, Kokomo, Arkansas and Kokomo, Hawaii, the song describes a fictional Kokomo as a place "off the Florida Keys." The name was later used by resorts in Sandals Cay, Jamaica, and Grassy Key, Florida. The song also mentions many island locales: in order of their appearance in the song, Aruba, Jamaica, Bermuda, Bahama(s), Key Largo, Montego (Bay), Martinique, Montserrat, and Port-au-Prince (with the first six places mentioned in the chorus). Bermuda is the only place mentioned that is not located in or near the Caribbean Sea.
This puzzle cache is located in Woodland Park, Colorado, at an elevation of over 8000 feet, and thousands of miles from anyplace that might resemble the tropical island Kokomo in the song.
“Wouldn’t It Be Nice” if there were a nice oceanfront beach around here? Well, there isn’t -- enjoy the mountains instead. Anyway, to get the coordinates to where the cache is hidden, you need to fit the words that are taken from the song and listed below, into the crossword puzzle; everything needed is in that one page attached file. There is only ONE WAY all of the words will fit. Once you have done so, there are FIVE special characters in blocks of the puzzle, that will give you the coordinates, using “letter equals a number” where A=1, B=2, C=3, etc. There would have been 6 characters, for the last 3 digits each of the latitude and longitude, but one of the six was a zero, which is given.
OK, just imagine the warm tropical sunshine, the sounds of the rolling surf, the sand in your toes and the tasty beverage of your choice in a glass with a slice of fresh fruit and a small umbrella in it while you work on solving this puzzle, which is also attached, under "Cache Images"
The cache is at: N 38 57. @ # $ W 105 01. % ZERO ?
You shouldn’t have any trouble with this puzzle, but if you do -- you could always ask Rhonda for help (get it?) although it probably wouldn’t do any good.
Got it solved? That should result in some “Good Vibrations” ! After checking your solution below, hop into your “Little Deuce Coupe” and head off to grab the cache which is in a very common hiding spot, although there are very, very few of this particular type of hiding spot in Woodland Park.
CONGRATULATIONS to Great-Grandpa (x3 and soon to be x4) hartsdale for FTF !
06/16/2019 By dondjay 185th cache found. Today for Fathers Day Meanlady1, Lucy (the four legged member) and I wanted to go up to Frisco, CO because they have a fantastic Cajun restaurant there. We decided to try and get some more Counties knocked out along the way. It was fun but long. We left with 11 targets: 8 found, 1 DNF, and 2 we have to reschedule due to it getting late. TFTC
06/16/2019 By meanlady1 My husband wanted to go caching for Father's Day and this was Stop #1 - fun one!
05/30/2019 By SipesFamily TFTC! Solved this last week and had sometime to grab it on my lunch break. To tell a funny story, my dad took me to a Beach Boys concert around 1990 at the Arizona State Fair when I was about 18 years old. They had the beach balls going around and not once but twice the beach ball came our way and the people behind me spilled their beer all over me, I was not a happy camper and ruined the whole concert for me. Anyways back to the cache, it is in good shape, signed the log, and thank you for the smiley face on the cache map. This is find 881 and the goal is to get our 1,000 find in the year 2019.
04/06/2019 By SeekDaCache We had made plans to attend the Creation Celebration: Woodland Park Create-a-Cache Event, and stay overnight to work on our Creative Carnival Souvenirs Happily we earned all of our souvenirs early on, but decided to follow through with our plans. We had a very lovely weekend in the Colorado Springs area with beautiful weather and fun caches. We also had a great time at the event learning some new things, winning some amazing items, putting some faces to names and making some new friends!!. SL,TFTC
Thank you 3 Williams Kidz for placing this cache for our enjoyment.
02/26/2019 By Granitegrabber Cute cache in a cool hiding place. Nobody was near by to look over my back. Woo Hoo! Thanks for the smiley face.
12/24/2018 By 3 Williams Kidz TB swap by the CO. I stopped by to drop off a trackable, not aware that there was one already in the cache (my fault for not checking first). Since the trackable in the cache was a type that I had not seen before (a DutchTagZ -- similar to the FarmTagZ), I grabbed it and dropped off a trackable in theme with "Kokomo" -- a Halo Top ice cream trackable. Mmmmm ... ice cream ...
