Fifth in the ghost town caches.
On Feb 20th I rehid this cache. Should fare better with mugglers. Most all the neighbors are in on the fun.
checked today 5/17/12 and had to place another. Some of these just don't last long.
This is one of the smallest incorporated towns in Colorado and back in the 1900's it provided plenty of trouble. When Canon City opted to become 'dry' in 1905 these saloons happily stayed open 24 hours a day. Serving the residents of Canon City and miners from all the mines that operated in all directions around here. Literally carloads of beer, wine, whiskey came in on the Sante Fe siding that ran thru the town. The perfectly constructed and preserved jail that sits along the road just north of here has a cache in it. The first day it opened its first occupant was the fellow who built it,(Mr. Sells.) After celebrating a little too heartedly with his hard earned wages. Today the town is owned and ruled by the Adamic family as it was since those early days.

Earlier this year I gave a print out of the geocache and its log, for the cache hidden in the jail, to the President of the Fremont Historical Society. Thanks to it and her effort, the tax assessor placed it on the tax exempt list of historical buildings and now some State funding will be used to help preserve the building. Thanks to u geocachers who proved that there was public interest and enjoyment in it.
