This cache is located along the trail to the top of midland hill this trail used to be known as White Box. This is could be a difficult hike if your not used to the elevation (cache elevation is 8864). The trail here is usually in good shape throughout the year. In the winter the trail can get icy and snowpacked. You may want to bring some water :)
The cache is located along the trail to the top of Midland Hill east of Buena Vista. To access this cache you can park at the Whipple Trail at the river park in Buena Vista which will add some time to your hike, or you can park in a pullout where this trail intersects County Road 304 (N38 50.624, W106 06.748). The cache is located along a nice trail and is pretty popular in the summer so please place it back how you found it and watch for muggles. Original cache contents include. White Box trail travel bug, various old coins, rocks, sticker, bracelet, fishing flies, and a bookmark.
Happy Caching!

6 Logs: Found it 6

Our 6th cache of the day. We had a great afternoon adventure hiking to the summit of White Box (a.k.a. Midland Hill). A steep climb that gains 1100' of elevation over the last mile to the summit. We were surprised that this cache not had a single log in nearly 3 years. How can that be? This seems to be a popular hike and the nearby trails certainly get a lot of hikers and bikers. As we arrived at ground zero, we were not optimistic that we would find this one given the lack of recent logs, but we actually found it in the first place that we looked. See attached photo. Cache box and log are still in great shape. Many thanks.

On our return hike down the trail from the summit, we passed a mountain biker who was pushing/carrying his bike to the summit. He planned to ride DOWN the trail. Insane to even consider this, let alone actually attempt it.

I'd had my eye on these two caches since we had found most of the ones on the lower slope. Today was a good day as my Huggle who doesn't like to hike up or down wasn't with me. I was glad to see there was a trail otherwise there would be no way I would have tried to brush bust up that mountain. As I hiked up I could hear the music of the festival in town. The trail was very steep and mostly boulder steps which are all shapes & sizes. I was thankful for the cloud cover as I went up. Definitely more than a 3 terrain and I live at 6500'! When I got to GZ I was hoping for a hint but did find the cache in the 4th place I looked.

Seriously tough climb for an older cacher. There were several times I was going to turn back. Noticed that it was exactly 1 year ago that this cache was last found. Love these caches, merits a favorite.
