Takes more than an hour  Scenic view  Significant hike  Not Available during winter  Cliff / falling rocks  No Night Cache  Tree Climbing

Rainy days can be wonderful. Whether you're outside playing dodge-the-drop or cozied up inside with a book, there's something soothing and healing about the syncopated pitter-patter.

But what's even MORE wonderful? A day outside hiking and geocaching! This cache is meant to be an easy 2-stage multi (D1!), but a bit of a challenge to get to. Regardless of your route, you'll experience a variety of terrain on your way to this cache! Some approaches are significantly easier and less scrub-oakey than others, but none are easy!

Despite the name, please DO NOT attempt this on RAINY/ICY/SNOWY days, WINDY days, or IN THE DARK. For real, slipping or falling in this area would not be fun.

Original cache contents: rainy-day activities (puzzles, at-home archeology kit, chess, checkers, dominoes, etc)

Note: I had originally intended this to be a challenge cache...only to learn that challenges can no longer be time-based. So, if you wish to be added to the *totally-optional* Terrainy-Day Honor Roll, you may treat this as a "Terrain-y Day" Challenge! That is, find 9 caches with distinct terrain ratings all on one calendar day. That is, one cache with a terrain rating of 1, one rated 1.5, one rated 2, one rated 2.5...all the way up to 5. I qualified on 9/17/17. Difficulty ratings of the 9 caches do not matter - there's a separate challenge (GC3K0RR) for that!

Terrain-y Day Honor Roll Inductees: ernie66

***Again: DO NOT attempt this on RAINY/ICY/SNOWY days, WINDY days, or IN THE DARK.***

Congratulations to GoMRT for FTF!!!

I wasn't expecting the final to be what it was. I would like to think that I would have played it safe and not attempted it if I was by myself, but I probably would have. However today I was with Offsprings who did the retrieval for us. Thanks for the multi.

Fun cache to do, particularly from my fairly stable viewpoint. But it was even more fun getting the video of ernie66 reaching it. It certainly deserved the terrain rating and was reminiscent of the ratings used by cachers like Climbstuff and Spivey. We've been up in this area twice before and both times chose a route that was more difficult than it needed to be. I doubt I qualified for the challenge cache.
Thanks for a fun day!

This interesting cache popped up and I managed to convince frequent hiking partner estes01 to go look for it on this beautiful Saturday. I found an automated checker ( Link) for the optional challenge and it says I qualify - to my surprise - I certainly didn't try to that day! But then, I have trouble remembering what I did yesterday, let alone 9 years ago! Anyway, this cache certainly earned its stars - at last an accurately rated, high-terrain cache! Definite favorite - TFTC!

ernie66 has used Project-GC to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.

My best date was at 2009-06-28 when I found caches in 9 different terrains:
T1.0: Pneumonia ( GC1CTZR)
T1.5: -TwoCs- Photo Opp ( GC1D3XX)
T2.0: One Oh Six ( GC1F57G)
T2.5: Family Outting ( GC1HREV)
T3.0: Red Hill Pass ( GC14F7J)
T3.5: On the Rocks with Team Red Rubicon ( GC1R8YC)
T4.0: RM ORS #14-02 Rock Garden ( GC1QY6D)
T4.5: Troy's Rock Garden ( GC1C28T)
T5.0: Red Rubicon Run ( GC1C6ND)

We went after this new multi after the nearby event hosted by Kerewin0430. Turns out our event host was also the CO of this cache. Stage 1 was easy enough, but the final was a pretty good challenge to get to/from. As the CO warns in the cache description, this one is definitely not a good one to go after with snow/ice on the ground. We do not qualify for the terrain-y challenge. Only 8 out of 9 terrain ratings on the day we nabbed all 9 difficulty ratings. Thanks for the fun and satisfying challenge-fave point from us.

Well, that was an interesting little adventure... Out with WingsAndTales today to find some fun multi-caches, and this one lived up to its rating. We approached it with some steep off-trail on frozen and snowy ground, and had more snow at GZ to add to the challenge. Thanks for the fun today - especially when the tree was swaying as I signed the log!!

COpackrat and I made our way up to this one today. After finding another cache in the area we took an unconventional route to get here and were thankful there was a better route down. Seeing the cache and actually touching it are two very different things. There was a little snow left in spots and that made the approach more interesting but we finally got there. COpackrat did the honors and I was the safety monitor. I'm sad to say I don't think I have a Terrain-y day. My best that I know of is 8 in a day with just the 1.0 missing. TFTC
