This cache is on one of the most popular trails. It will be ridden and run over many times, but only a few will find it.

The Rio Grande Trail connects the entire Roaring Fork Valley from Aspen to Glenwood Springs. The trail's entrance to Aspen begins as you cross over the Roaring Fork River. These are two of the best things in this area, the River and the Rio Grande. The Rio Grande Trail is 42 miles of continuous multi-use trail. It follows the line of the historic Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RG). The D&RG built a line through Glenwood Canyon to Glenwood Springs, reaching Aspen in October 1887 before its train rival, the Colorado Midland. The D&RG chose the route that entered Aspen crossing the Roaring Fork River, and the Colorado Midland chose to cross Maroon Creek and Castle Creek (both bridges can be crossed today). This area is rich in history that now forms many of the amazing trails in the area.

Walking along the river, we stopped here for a break and for BubsMagee to stretch her legs. While she tossed stones into the river with her Pa and Oma, I grabbed this cache.

Having done many a 'troll cache', this was not quite where I expected. But then I saw the corner of the cache poking out. Stamped the log, rehid after adjusting the camouflage and rejoined the others to make some big sploshes!

TFTC and greetings from Melbourne, Australia.

After dropping off a TB bought from back home at a nearby cache, I started thinking about taking some TBs back home. Hmm... how do I find a TB without just happening to stumble on one in an appropriately sized container. Question Ahhh... Pocket Query. And now I have one to take back home. BigSmile.
