Back by popular demand - Relational Sudoku #2!

The cache is not here. You might park here.. or maybe not.

Solve the puzzle below to find the cache.

To find the coordinates for this cache, solve the following puzzle:

Cache is at N 39 q.xxx W 104 r.yyy

Standard Sudoku rules apply. Each row, column, and 3x3 region must contain the digits 1-9, with no duplication. In addition, where the boundary line includes a < or > indicator, that means that one number is less or greater than the other.

Once you have ABC and DEF, apply the following rules to find q, r, xxx, and yyy:

  • For North coordinate:
    • If B >= 5 then q = 21, xxx = ABC - 015.
    • If B <= 4 then q = 22, xxx = ABC + 013.
  • For West coordinate:
    • If F >= 5 then r = 54, yyy = DEF + 013.
    • If F <= 4 then r = 52, yyy = DEF.

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com. .

I was with icezebra11 when the find was made. He had told me about this puzzle and I've been working for some time at solving this relational Sudoku but have not quite succeeded yet--but I'm pretty close. It's been a challenge, despite my good experience with various forms of Sudoku. I signed the field cache log but will not report a Found it on this until I get it successfully solved!

Denali41 and I, along with his Lab puppies Zaba and Chimi, and my Lab puppy Angel had a great caching day in the Castle Rock and south Metro areas today, scoring on a lot of really nice caches.

Our first stop was to do some hiking in Castle Rock's Ridgeline Open Space. It was a really warm day on the trail. This cache was one I really wanted to find. I do regular Sudoku puzzles every day but I hadn't done any of this type. It was quite the logic challenge to complete the grid but I was successful in getting the checker to tell me I had the correct coordinates.

Once arriving at GZ I made the find pretty quickly and signed the log. Thanks KA&JWest for this real fun mystery cache!!!

I was able to get this puzzle solved this morning, very tough, many wrong roads were taken. Thanks for introducing me to this new variant and I hope to get over soon.

I had the good fortune to be out caching today with the5millers, MagicCacher, benj59 and herndonrd on an overcast day in Castle Rock. Benj59 brought his adorable dog to join us, which made the trek through the mud even more entertaining.

The quest to find your cache this morning would not have been possible without the tenacity and brilliance of benj59. I have looked at this puzzle numerous times and never tackled it simply because I knew I would be spending many hours on this and the last thing I need is to improve my skill at launching expletives. Benj59, on the other hand, knows not the meaning of the word expletive and was willing to accept the challenge of this puzzle without fear of offending young children.

Speaking of young children, herndonrd is not one. However, he did his best to emulate one with his constant muttering of "Are we there yet?" moments after we began our journey. Meanwhile the child known as MagicCacher happily plodded along enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells that were all around us (smells courtesy of the5millers). Sometime before dinner was being served in Tanzania we arrived at the cache site. My only value at this point was to locate all the places where the container wasn't, which is my way of being courteous and giving someone else the opportunity to make the grab. I am not certain who found it, but I know that there was much rejoicing afterwards. Once the log had been signed and cache replaced we made the trek back to our respective geo-hoopties so we could search for other plastic delights in the area.

Thanks for the fun hide and for your contribution to a great day of caching with lots of cool people and benj59 (who wishes he was as cool as his dog).
