Scenic view  Cliff / falling rocks  Dangerous area  Quads  Off-road vehicles

In this granite complex, you'll find a labyrinth of passageways, ledges and ramps heading off six ways from Sunday among spires, obelisks, and cliffs. Choose the right gap, the right ledge, and you'll be rewarded with a cache find and views of Pikes Peak and the valley below. Choose the wrong ramp and, well, you don't want to go there. The correct approach to the cache does not require anything dangerous, but watch your step as there are cliffs and deep holes in the vicinity.

With a 4WD vehicle and good weather, you can drive to within 200 feet of the cache. Take Road 307 (Shubarth) to Road 313. Or hike from Shubarth Road, Stanley Canyon, Goat Camp Creek, or Deadman's Creek.

Thanks to estes01 and Cocoa66 for their help in placing this cache.

Out offroading with a friend of mine. We stopped in this area for a break and to grab this cache! It's in great shape. Although muggles found it and left a powerbar in there - food in a cache is never a good idea (I removed it and tossed it). Signed the log and we got back on the road. TFTC!

Hiked up Stanley Canyon Trail from USAFA. Beautiful morning! Impressive rock formations- lucky to find the container so quickly. Signed log and replaced container as found. Thanks for the cache.

Got it on a quick hike after a great ride on the road. Bits of it were tight for my longer truck. TFTC!

I hiked to the cache from the Stanley Canyon trail. It was a long hike, but not too strenuous. Coords are good. Cache is in great shape and the views were amazing. TFTC

Thanks to last weeks adventure I met Lemonhead mafia. Today we decided to come back and finish the caches I was targeting. This time in his truck. He and his son had been all over this rock last week, but didn't know about the cache here. Found it quickly Today. Tftc!

I really didn't plan on coming out this far today. Originally, I was just looking for a hour long hike for a cache with a decent Terrain rating. One of the first I checked was the nearby GC19829 Deadman's Creek Overlook. My immediate reaction was, "high terrain Ernie cache...nope." Panning further East, I saw the other caches here along the Schubarth Trail. I saw this one, another Ernie cache, and noted the cache description. It sounded very similar to his GCYMD5 66 Shades of Ochre, which I just found this Sunday at Paint Mines. That one was tons of fun, and I thought this might be as well. Immediately, I had two little Ernies appear on my should, the red one with horns egging me on to do it, the other one dressed in white with a harp reminding me of my other commitments today. Eventually, the red one won out. In case I was late returning from my Schubarth Trail excursion, I planned to tell my family "the Ernie made me do it."

Unlike 66 Shades of Ochre, this one was obviously less forgiving of dumb mistakes. Earlier in the day, there was a strong wind advisor, and it was pretty bad here. While stationary and planning my route, the wind gave me a good shove. Fortunately, I am pretty strong (I said strong, not heavy) so the hunt went without any wind inspired disasters. I was pretty lucky and navigated to the cache with minimal searching. The scenery was pretty awesome here, even though I could not linger due to the strong winds. The cache and contents are still in great shape. Thanks to the CO for yet another fun hunt, bringing me to this gorgeous spot, and placing this nice cache for everyone to find; TFTC.

No, I was not late.
