King Arthur is said to have received his legendary sword, Excalibur, by being the only one able to pull it from the massive rock in which it was embedded. The sword served him well as king, but when he died, the sword was thrown into a lake, from which a strange hand drew it below, from where it has not been seen…until now.

Thanks to a secret, archeological expedition, the final resting place of this historical sword has been discovered. This team of archeologists has many theories that explain why it is here and what it can be used for in the future. One theory claims that this magical sword is the key to unlocking the mysterious door that is carved into the rock, found not too far from the sword. This doorway is believed to transport one from the current realm of existence to the time of King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable.

The more popular of the theories state that if one looks westward through the eye of the sword, they will find the treasure of King Arthur and his knights. When we went to this location we were unable to see anything, but perhaps you are the chosen one and you will be able to uncover the King’s treasure by looking through the eye of the sword.

Park only at N39 41.789 W105 11.540, not on any road or highway. Crossing the meadow of grass, be careful of the summer protectors of the door -- ticks and snakes in the summer, the mighty winds and snow in the winter. For your safety, do not attempt to look through the eye if snow or ice covers the rocks. Watch for travelers on two wheels. Your canine protector should be kept on a leash. No water is available, so bring your own. Travel time from the parking coordinates to the door is about 30 minutes and the roundtrip is approximately 1.5 miles.

I believe I found this but there were items scattered throughout the area, so Im not too sure. There was a cave on the west facing side with a log book heavily weathered and 2 pencils. I could not read anything on the book. It was close to a container lid. Needs some tlc, if indeed I found what I thought it was. I'll keep my eye on this one.

Seems strewn about like the elements got to it but we stumbled upon it :)

As I continue to take trips up to Golden, I'm grateful to have time to explore the area. Today I had the opportunity to explore the William F. Hayden Green Mountain Park. Despite the snow and cold weather in Colorado Springs, it was in the 60s here. This is really an odd cache, I'm not quite sure what to ake of this one. A traditional cache by geocaching guidelines is supposed to have accurate coordinates to the hide. This cache does not. The CO has done a great job finding a nice spot and building a great backstory to mesh with the unique terrain and features. Perhaps this one could be rebuilt as a puzzle cache or a letterbox hybrid; but as a traditional it doesn't meet the guidelines. Hopefully the CO will make some fixes and turn this into a super cool cache. Despite all of that, I'm very great for bringing me to this cool spot, TFTC.

I spent way to much time looking at GZ which is on the wrong side of the fin. Finally looked at the photos and got better coordinates.

At first I thought there was no hope. I was standing there at the posted coordinates but nothing made sense. I reread the description and soon noticed a metallic sawed off structural beam, and I thought I had the answer. I did not, yet, but when I kept on looking, when I looked further, when I looked beyond what I see, I saw something else, yes this must be it. I tried to pull it out for good measure, and it did not budge. I started to look around some more, in all sorts of directions, and it was in one of those directions that I saw what it was I had been looking for.
I got to it and opened the lid to find it mostly empty, not much swag to be had, but there was a log book! And I signed it. Left behind a bouncy ball. Thank you for placing this fun geocache!

Wow! Very cool! Not sure where the coordinates were trying to take me. Took me a while to realize what was going on but once the name clicked with me, it was a quick find.

Looked for about 20 minutes but couldn't find it. I think it's near the abandoned piece of steel stuck in the ground but I don't know
