Mike (of MikeAndJuli) has been visiting this location since before GPSr's and Geocaching.  Lots of great memories of spending time with family - some still here, some gone.

In the past few years, when MikeAndJuli visit they come here at least once, and it is absolutely heartbreaking how this area has fallen into such disrepair.   At the time this cache was placed, we have been working on planning with GCCO and with BLM to coordinate an actual CITO event here to make a big difference.   

Until we can facilitate an actual event, we have placed this traditional geocache at the entrance to the range, hoping that some cachers may proceed down the rutted road and remove a bag of trash.   

 

Original cache contents include a geocaching.com zipper pull/compass, a log book, a smiley geocoin and a rolled up trash bag.

What a great idea behind this geocache !
We always (try to )spend our summer vacation each year in the USA and , of course, try to geocache as much as possible ! Unfortunately we always have to see that such a lot of trash is lying around everywhere what makes us really sad and angry ! Why do people do this ? The USA are sooooooo beautiful , with all these spectacular views , great landscapes ,beautiful nature ... and some people destroy this beauty by throwing away their trash )-: ! Those who are responsible for this should be ashamed !
We‘ve never attended/ participated at a real "CITO“ so far but we do it all the time when possible. At the cache location we were surprised as there was not as much trash as we expected (unfortunately we saw worse areas so far) , but we collected about 5 cans and bottles. At the end of our caching day we collected 3 full plastic bags of trash, by the way .
Thanks for saving the environment and , of course, TFTC with a blue heart and greetings from Germany !

Out here to start planning for May's CITO (check out the new Event Cache just down the dirt road from here), and decided to check on this. It was missing, so I replaced it. No trash bags this time, though.

Good luck, and maybe we will see you on May 19th for our first ACTUAL CITO event here!
