Native American Tribe Series.

Neusiok

 

An unclassified tribe, perhaps of Iroquoian stock, found in 1584 occupying the country on the south side of lower Neuse river, within the present Craven and Carteret Counties, North Carolina.  They were at war with the more southerly coast tribes.  In the later colonial period the Indians of the same region were commonly known as Neuse Indians and had dwindled by the year 1700 to 15 warriors in two towns, Chattooka and Rouconk.  They probably disappeared by incorporation with the Tuscarora.

Out on a walk today on this beautiful spring morning trying to clean up some unfound hides in the area. My Geo senses were way off on this one, so I had a good little walkabout in all directions before I finally came at it from the right angle. Should’ve been quick and easy, but I needed the exercise anyway! thank you as always for the history lesson as well!

Out caching solo today, baby sitting at night and caching during the day. Last night I had BAa, it was a good night, but still exhausting. Geocaching is much easier than babysitting aJ night. Stayed fairly close to Lousiiville today. Thanks for placing this cache.
