Cache is located off of Moffat County Road 10 at an elevation of 6614 feet above sea level. Terrain is mild when dry, mud can be sticky and slick.

Cache container is a camouflaged pill bottle. BYOP!

This cache is located next to the location of the Bromide Mining Company's Smelter and Charcoal Kilns. The 4 kilns are the only remaining structures of what was once a 5 acre industrial site that included a copper smelter and related buildings. They were used to burn the impurities from the local wood to create a high temperature fuel for the companies 15 ton per day copper smelter which extracted pure copper from the raw ore which was mined about 15 miles to the west of this site. They were built in 1898 and remain in excellent condition to this day. Be sure to find the other caches in this area, and don't forget the camera as this is a very scenic location.

This was a caching trip to pick up 5 deLorme sectors in northwestern Colorado. I was missing sectors 12, 13, 16, 23 and 25. South of SR 318 on CR 12 through Greystone. Not what you usually think of when the hint is "tree". SL

Nice little walk to this one from the coke ovens! We saw 2 rabbits in this area, this was one right next to where we parked our car just hanging out under a tree. Our car has low ground clearance so we had to walk up there which wasnt bad. TFTC! ?
