On the Roan Plateau.

Take the JQS Trail up from Hwy.13, when you get to the top go west on Anvil Points Road. Follow this road until you get to the West Anvil Point, you'll see a road to the right; take it and park.

The hike to the cache is about three quarters of a mile, a very scenic and casual walk. The cache is hidden in a spruce below the waterfall that was already iced up when the cache was placed. I posted a picture of the container to make finding it a little easier because the reception is very poor in the area.

On the hike back I was lucky enough to see a Boreal Owl take flight. It happened much too fast for me to get a picture to share, but I'll never forget the image. Just another great thing about caching.

Congratulations on the FTF Polaski! Glad you made it up there, you're the first and probably the last to log it this year.
This was one of my favorite hiking areas before I started caching. Well, I guess it still is. From here you can continue on down to Parachute Creek.

I had the great pleasure of camping with darr at the camp site just above this cache. As 3chacheteers said you do not know what you are missing. This is a wonderful area to drive, camp, hike and find a very creative cache.

I did cheat on this one as I did not have quards locked into gps nor did darr {how does darr remember where all his caches are} well I followed darr to cache and got a cheater's smilly on this one.

Out wandering the hills with no GPS and some non-geocaching friends. Just had to see if I could find the cache while just wandering around. I found it with no problems and was suprised to see that I was the last log and that was from 2010!! Geocachers don't know what they are missing by not taking this hike. It is beautiful and once past the camping area you have the whole area to yourself. Saw some Turkeys on the hike in. Waterfall was dry this time too.

Almost didn't go for this one as it was getting late but we just couldn't resist. Was kind of spooky as there was bear scat everywhere on the trail but we kept going. Had to do some serious looking for the cache as didn't know about the picture before we headed out to it. The waterfall was dry but was an awesome hike. Thanks for showing us this beautiful place.
