This is an official National Park Service Earthcache within Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Parking is available in designated spaces and the cache can be reached by using an established trail. Altitude at this cache is above 7700'.
Welcome to the home of dragons, Peregrine falcons, and rock climbers alike. Towering 2,250 feet above the river, this monolith earns the titles of Colorado's tallest cliff and toughest rock climbs. Take a moment to listen to the gentle roar of the river, bask in the canyon breeze, and admire the spectacular pegmatite dikes before you. These pegmatite dikes were once molten rock, which were squeezed up into the surrounding rock cracks. Here they cooled slowly forming large crystals. Can you see two horizontal dragons? Some visitors are lucky enough to spot falcons or Golden eagles gracefully gliding along the currents below this viewpoint. As you leave, be sure to take note of the colorful wildflowers and ancient juniper trees bordering the path. Read the exhibits here to find a cache-claiming answer. To claim this cache, email CURE BLCA the answer to the following question: If New York City's Empire State Building was placed in the canyon at this point, it would rise to a height of ___ of the large wall. A)1/2 B)1/4 C)3/4 D)2/3

The size and scope of this canyon are tough to comprehend from the rim of the canyon. I’d love to stand below at the bad of the wall and look straight up to the rim.

Beautiful view! Looking for a Golden Eagle or Peregrine Falcon... no luck so far... off to the next overlook.

Found this yesterday. Carly and I are on a road trip all over the country. Hiked the gunnison route trail prior to finding this cache. On the hike at the bottom I asked her to marry me. And she said YES! TFTC and memories.

The Wall is quite impressive and interesting that it is the highest cliff in CO.

Cool spot. This was our favorite, I think.

Holy cow. I've been wanting to come out this way for a while yet, and hitting 2000 geocaches made for a good excuse. :D My sister, Krittab, came out for a visit so we planned to come out here. So glad we did! It's a visceral experience to stand on the overlooks here. I literally felt weak-kneed. Amazing! Tftc!

Drove from Santa Fe to Montrose today and made my way to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park before sunset. I had some time left until sunset and picked some caches in the park.

Running around the Ouray-Durango area and logging a few caches along the way.
We just got home and 1st chance we've had to get our finds logged in the computer.
Found at 3:35 PM.
Answer to the question emailed to the CO altho the CO has been MIA for over 10 years.
