The cache is an ammo can hidden in the downed timber. The hide is a 1.5, pretty easy, BUT to get there, the road is a 5+. Only accessible by 4x4 with good clearance, ATV, dirt bike, horse or long hike from the lower parking lot. Watch the skies for late afternoon thunderstorms. It can make the ride down quite exciting!The reservoirs were built several years ago by a water users group to provide irrigation water to the Battlement Mesa / Morrisania Mesa area. During the early 90’s (best I can remember), all but one of the reservoirs breached from saturated soils. A large wall of water came down the drainage, pushing large amounts of basalt ahead of it. The water eventually came down and poured into the Colorado River near the ole Knight place. Several fields were inundated with boulders and it took years to clear them.
Congratulations to DARR for being the first one brave enough to get to this one, especially so late in the season!

Distance from original: 252 feet or 76.8 meters. Meant to update this last week. Went up the hill last week and replaced the cache. Moved it alittle north and east of the old location. Hopefully not as easily spotted by local campers below.
08/16/2014 By tgb123 I'm sad to report this first DNF for this cache. We got to GZ and let the satellite sink in. We couldn't find it even after extending the search area about 80 feet all around GZ. We checked under ever fallen tree and branch we could but still nada. We found what looked like a common piece of s.w.a.g. near GZ which swayed us into believing that it might not be there anymore. I hope it is and someone else can find it though! Still it was a beautiful hike. Anyone know if there are fish in the reservoirs?
