Salt Creek Rd. goes through beautiful national forest skirting the Anteros wildlife reserve. There are numerous camping sights both summer and winter, though you may need to avoid free ranging cattle in the summer.  The cache is located within ready reach of the road, near an obvious camping spot  It’s well camouflaged so please put it back just as you found it

My fiancé and I stayed in Fairplay overnight, following Day 2 of our interstate adventure from Topeka to Seattle. It was colder than anything I'd ever experienced before (10°F/-12°C). You see, I'd travelled over 9000 miles from my home in sunny Australia, and I'd not seen any snow for over 20 years!

On waking today, I realised there was an unfound cache 'just down the road'...
So off we went, in brilliant sunshine, taking the Prius down Salt Creek Rd. It handled the dry roads beautifully. I was in awe of the gorgeous landscape and took photos at every rise and bend. We parked at the convenient campsite and were fortunate enough to happen upon the cache in just a few minutes. Perfect coordinates were a godsend!
So with what I thought was the hard part done, I encountered a brand new geo-experience... The cache had frozen shut!!
Oh nooo...
We tried thawing out the cache with the car heater, and as we did a pick up truck pulled up next to us. Dave the hunter introduced himself, and said he didn't often see Priuses out here!! So he was just making sure we were okay. And as serendipity would have it, Dave was carrying the very TOTT we needed!!
So we signed in on the recycled log and took a selfie with Dave - without him, we might still be sitting there trying to thaw it out, lol.

Thanks so much, Ouzel&Co. This is my first FTF outside of Australia (171st in total), and it was sooooo memorable!! The cache is cleverly camoed and is in mint condition. I appreciate you bringing us out to this fantastic location. It was well worth the jaunt.
