Beautiful day for a hike on a well marked trail that was new to me. TFTC!

I had hiked to the Adams Apple cache last week. Today I had planned to ride either from the 1st parking area near the 2 track trail or ride the RTP trail. Fortunately there was only one car parked on the Crags Rd. so that left me enough room to park the trailer just past the entrance. I really had no idea where the old road ended up because it wasn't on my GPS completely. I was thrilled when I found out it went exactly where I wanted to go & I was able to ride my horse to within 1/3 mile of the cache. There is a section of rocks at the main peak that are too narrow to get a horse past so I had to leave him tied to a tree. I was pretty sure no one else would be up there as I hiked to the cache, enjoyed the view, and hurried back. After I got back down the steeper part of the trail and was at the intersection with the "trail" that drops down to the RTP trail all of a sudden a group of about 20 late teen aged kids popped up the hill. They were as surprised to see a horse as I was to see them. Of course I figured out they must be from the Mennonite Camp.

12:13:00 PM We are visiting from Dallas and staying in Divide. Today we tried a slightly longer hike with a little more elevation gain. We went to "The Sleeping Giant's Adam's Apple," Raspbery Mountain - and beyond to "The Giant's Eye."
After walking the rest of the sleeping giant's face, we journeyed on to the "Eye." Unfortunately, I didn't pick up on the trail leaving Raspberry Mountain, so we free-styled toward the cache (without briars and thick brush like we have in Dallas, I just can't bring myself to call this "bushwhacking.") At least I tried to follow contour lines. About a tenth of a mile from the cache, I did manage to find the trail and it was a much easier walk after that. I signed the log and enjoyed another place with a nice view. Thanks for the cache.
