Out and about caching with heh324 and looking for caches that help us complete the 360° challenge. At the start of the day I only needed five to finish the challenge, so we drove from Woodland Park to Buena Vista finding the right caches for us.
We stopped here on our way home because I LOVE confluence hides. I have found several over the years but this may be the first where both the lat and long zero out. It also picked up a degree for heh324, so making the detour out this way in my SUV was a no-brainer.
We had no trouble finding this one quickly, though there was barely a hint of daylight when we opened the cache. After signing the log and putting everything back in place we began our walk back to the car. That's when we heard the growl. I acted like I didn't hear anything because I didn't want to freak her out. In my head I wondered what type of beast made that noise, and the only answer I could agree on was "non-human". When it growled a second time I noticed her pace pick up considerably. I had never seen her move so fast. I wish I had recorded it so I could play it for her when she's at the gym.
Once we were in the car she admitted that she wished that she was wearing Depends, and checked her heart rate periodically for the rest of the drive. Thanks for the fun and memorable addition to a great day trip. Favorite point added for the great experience.

Making a day of it with fearthefish. The goal was for us to get degrees for the 360 Challenge. (I still have a ways to go, but fearthefish will be completing the challenge today) I was also able to get a few new counties.
The sun was setting and fearthefish really wanted to grab this one because the coords are so cool (AND it got me a degree). We were able to drive close to GZ and the view was stunning. As we were signing the log I commented on how crazy silent it was back there. Then as we were walking back to the car, we both heard it...the call/roar/cry of something wild in the trees. I am definitely a suburban kind of girl, so I have no idea what it was, but BEAR is what was running though my mind in the moment. I have multiple sclerosis, so my ability to move fast is significantly compromised, but it was awesome to learn I can move a lot faster than I ever thought in a pinch!! We made it safely to the car and high tailed it out of there. Neither of us saw anything, but we both heard it. So it probably wasn't the best idea to travel to this one at dusk (and during mating season for bears).
I'm still making it a favorite as the description states "a cache and a confluence, even better" and this is my first confluence find. Thank for all your efforts putting this one together. TFTC

Easy to find but be prepared for about 1/2 hike into it since the road has been closed off to motorized vehicles.
