I picked up this nice cache today while on a secret mission on Rampart Range Road. I didn't know there was a "park" here, and really couldn't tell the difference between it and the rest of the Pike National Forest. This one wasn't on my original target list, but I decided to come after it anyway. As a Ernie cache only rated 2/2, I decided to get it since I struggle with the harder ones. I was less concerned about Bigfoot and more concerned that Swamp Thing might put in an appearance. The recent rains turned this area into a tricky patchwork of mud and bog. It was appropriate that the Soggy Bottom Boys cued up on my ipod during the short hike to the cache. I definitely felt like one of them sans beard. Fortunately for me, I did not add to the bigfoot lore today. I can imagine that while I was hunched over searching, without having shaved in several days and grunting in frustration; I might have been mistaken for a bigfoot by some passerby. Unfortunately, I doubt bigfoot will ever be making an appearance here again. Irresponsible gun owners (as compared to responsible ones like me) have once again set up a impromptu range and left their garbage for everyone else to deal with. The faint trail I followed to GZ went right through the impact area.
To set the record straight, I must make a small correction to estes01's log entry. "Sasquatch" was Andre the Giant in a fur suit for a 1976 episode of The Six Million Dollar Man. If estes spent more time watching campy 1970s TV shows instead of doing all of that hiking, she would probably know more important outdoor facts like that. The cache is still in great shape. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find, TFTC.

Last cache of the day. Not sure if the distant rumblings were thunder or big foot but I decided the wise choice was to get back to the truck and beat a hasty retreat. Sl, thanks!

After cutting our Christmas Tree we headed down to the park on snowshoes since the Saylor Park road was not plowed and the was about 20' of wet snow on the ground. Someone had driven down the road & back out many days earlier, but it had snowed a bit since then. We didn't follow the road the whole way, instead breaking our own trail. Getting across the meadow was no problem but finding some of the caches was. We were lucky and found this one easily. No eerie happenings today.

I'm not sure if Bigfoot (or Sasquatch as we prefer to call this creature in Canada) was watching us today or not…I was too busy focusing on how to get across the swamp without getting my feet wet. And as far as aliens go, Area 66 has as much credibility as Area 51. I thought only farmers in the middle of nowhere got to see those guys. Lots of hunters out today, though, shooting at trees and metal objects. That's strange enough for me. First time I've been down this road and it's actually a beautiful area to explore. TFTC.

The hubby and I had a good time today toodling along on a geo day...which is pretty rare for us...our schedules are usually jam packed....we couldnt go too far from home, though, so we picked this area of Rampart Range to explore... I had decided after getting the Loopey Tunes series I wanted to get the Saylor Park area, too...and this cache was the one I was most looking forward to...I had even worn my water shoes all day (won
t do that again, but thats another story)....I didn
t look too hard for another way to get across the marsh...maybe the hubby would have stepped out of the vehicle (yes, we were able to drive along the road)....if I had, but that was part of the adventure for me... :) ....Bigfoot sighting ?...No, more`s the pity...I could have handled that....I was more afraid of the creepy crawlies..... the slithering slimies....the marsh monsters....the....well, you get the idea.....the little swamp beasties that nip and bite and suck...~~shiver~~.....but I braved them all and made my way across.....saw the creepy rock and found the cache...yay!!....smiled all the way across back the marsh...even when I sunk down to my knee at one point and had to backtrack and find a new direction.....arrived safely to the other side.....only to find out one of our tires had picked up a nail along the way and we had to get back to Woodland Park to get it fixed before going home.....~sigh~.....I was really hoping to get more caches, but such is life and I am so glad I got to end the day with an awesome little adventure...TFTC!
Part of Saylor Park Marsh....so pretty...
Itty bitty white flowers everywhere in the marsh..
creeeeepy.......

I rode my bike down to this area while doing the new Loopey series. While passing through, I looked for a way to get across the swampy area but didn't see one. I continued on to several other caches and on the way back figured out how to get across without getting wet. Really nice area where I saw no other people. My total ride today was a challenging 16 miles and I found this cache at 10:40 am after a short hike from where I left my bike. The only one up here with big feet today was me!
