Motor Way in Colorado Springs is home to several vehicle dealerships and repair facilities.  While getting our vehicle oil changed and waiting for about an hour, we figured that we would place a new cache, so that if you find yourself in a similar situation with some time on your hands, you could at least find an easy cache nearby.

Good luck !

Big HUGE Congratulations to FrauOrientierungslos, SirWolfen and mayas03 who traveled all the way from Berlin to get FTF ! Okay, so they were doing some other caching as well, but an FTF is an FTF --  Ausgezeichnet !!!

The time has finally come... our road trip through the USA
We started planning this adventure over a year ago... and now the dream has come true... we're on the road...

We... that's FrauOrientierungslos, mayas03 and SirWolfen....
We are traveling for 35 days and will cover over 12,000km...

Our itinerary starts in Washington DC and then continues as follows... New York, Boston, Niagara Falls, Chicago, a domestic flight to Denver, round trip around Denver (3 days) with Mount Rushmore and the Rocky Mountains... then Saltlake City, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and then Seattle... from where we also fly home again...

Of course, we also have a good list of caches with us that we really want to visit... primarily the very old caches that we want to see... but of course there are also many virtuals and other cans that will lure us to great places... and will enhance our Muggle sightseeing program according to our hobby...

Cache details of day 14:

Today our tour continues to Salt Lake City. Not by the direct route, of course... No, of course we're going to visit a few extra, a few very old geocaches from 2000...

We were just about to continue our journey when we spotted this open FTF just 6 minutes away. Well, let's take a look around...
After a short search, we were able to find the rascal and sign the unused logbook...

The Ultimate U.S. Roadtrip: 35 Days with SirWolfen and mayas03

Brace yourselves for the adventure of a lifetime as SirWolfen, mayas03, and I gear up for an epic 35-day road trip across the United States this September. With an ambitious itinerary, boundless enthusiasm, and a shared thirst for discovery, we’re ready to conquer the East Coast, the Rockies, the West Coast, and everything in between. From the bustling streets of Washington D.C. to the majestic peaks of Mount Rushmore, this trip promises to be a whirlwind of breathtaking sights, unforgettable memories, and perhaps a few questionable snack choices at 3 AM on the open road.

Our journey kicks off in the nation’s capital, Washington D.C., where we’ll soak in history, wander the National Mall, and take selfies with Abraham Lincoln’s towering statue. Not to mention, a side quest to find the best burger in town is high on our list. After D.C., it’s straight to the city that never sleeps—**New York**! From Times Square’s neon-lit chaos to the peaceful stroll through Central Park, we’ll embrace everything NYC has to offer. Will we try out for Broadway? Maybe. Will we get lost in the subway? Almost certainly. But what’s New York without a little drama?

Next stop: Boston, where the history buffs in us will be delighted by the Freedom Trail, and the foodies will chase down legendary bowls of New England clam chowder. After soaking in Boston’s colonial charm, we’re off to the roaring beauty of Niagara Falls, where we’ll either be mesmerized by the power of nature or too busy getting soaked on the Maid of the Mist to care. It’s a short drive to Chicago, the Windy City, where we’ll indulge in deep-dish pizza, admire the city’s stunning architecture, and maybe even dare to step out on the glass-floored Skydeck at Willis Tower.

But wait—there’s more! From Chicago, we’ll leave the open road for a moment and hop on a plane to Denver, where the Rockies await. In our three days around Denver, the agenda includes a pilgrimage to the faces of presidents past at Mount Rushmore, followed by an adventure through the rugged beauty of Salt Lake City. Surrounded by mountains and deserts, we’ll get a taste of the Old West before the neon oasis of Las Vegas calls our names.

In Vegas, it’s all about the glitz, glamour, and spectacle. Will Lady Luck be on our side at the blackjack table? Will we resist the urge to get matching tattoos at 2 AM? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure—we’re headed to one of nature’s greatest spectacles next: the Grand Canyon. We’ll stand at the edge of the vast abyss, taking in the awe-inspiring beauty of a landscape carved over millennia. Our next stop, San Diego, will provide a much-needed chill vibe, with its gorgeous beaches, world-class zoo, and sunsets over the Pacific.

Our adventure continues north with a stop in Los Angeles, where Hollywood dreams meet the laid-back charm of Venice Beach. Who knows? We might run into a celebrity—or at least snap a pic with their star on the Walk of Fame. From L.A., it’s up the iconic Pacific Coast Highway to San Francisco, where the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and cable cars await. After wandering through Chinatown and indulging in sourdough bread, we’ll head to Portland for some quirky fun, craft beers, and nature-filled adventures. Portland’s weirdness will fit right in with our quirky trio dynamic.

Our final stop on this unforgettable journey is the evergreen city of Seattle. We’ll ride to the top of the Space Needle, explore the vibrant Pike Place Market, and maybe sample more coffee than we can handle in a single day. Before long, it’ll be time to pack up our souvenirs, memories, and endless inside jokes and hop on a plane back to Berlin.

This 35-day road trip promises to be more than just a series of destinations. It’s about the countless hours spent in the car, sharing stories, blasting our favorite playlists, and seeing the U.S. through fresh eyes. SirWolfen will no doubt lead the way with his keen sense of direction (and probably some terrible puns), while mayas03 keeps things lively with his energy and knack for discovering hidden gems.

Whether we’re standing in awe before a national monument, getting caught in a rainstorm in the streets of New York, or laughing until we cry over a late-night road trip mishap, one thing is certain: this journey will be one for the history books. So, buckle up and join us in spirit—because this September, we’re taking on America, one epic stop at a time.
