Date: Saturday, September 16th
Time: 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.
Location: Church of the Transfiguration: 27640 CO-74, Evergreen, CO 80439

Geocaching Colorado wants to give others plenty of opportunities to keep our parks and open spaces clean, as well as earning your Season 2, 2023 CITO Souvenir.  Come join Geocaching Colorado Board Member Marky AKA Geodog74 for a fun event, collect some trash, and help beautify the area.  We will be meeting at the parking lot (see posted cooridnates) next to the meadow and the Creek.  I will supply Garbage bags, Hand Sanitizer, Water bottles, and a Canopy for shade.  The Spicy Terrain Ratng is to entice others to join us, in reality it's more like a T1.5.  I have also obtained permission from the Church to utilize their dumpster, so no stinky rides home for those who help!

A small raffle will take place at the end of the event with a chance to win some fun Geocacing prizes.

                                                                       Safety Suggestions

You should wear some form of gloves for protection. Additionally, trash grabbers or other pickup TOTTS can help create further separation between you and the litter. Also don’t forget a hat, bug spray, close-toed shoes, and sunscreen!

Cache In Trash OutŪ (CITO) is an environmental initiative the geocaching community supports. Since 2002, CITO has enabled geocachers to beautify and restore natural and urban spaces. In that time, there have been more than 599,000 logged attendances at nearly 33,000 events where geocachers helped improve the outdoors.

Actions often speak louder than words; from collecting trash to planting trees, and all other kinds of CITO activities, when we CITO, we make our world a better place. We build community with our geocaching neighbors and leave our incredible geocaching gameboard better than how we found it

WOO-HOO! I could not ask for a better group of "Trashy" people to hang out with on a picture perfect day in the mountains! We had a very nice turnout, and I'm thankful to the friends that made it up from the Denver Metro, Colorado Springs, and the Noco area. Shout out to Death from Below for helping me get things set up, and congrats on winning the awesome Geocoin.

Once the group was assembled we began our mission to spruce the place up. Things started off a little slow, and the pickings were a bit slim. That was until EJBHGV stumbled upon the "Great Bear Creek Garbage Patch". The high water had pushed a ton of flotsam and jetsam into a tangle of timber just down around the bend. We focused most of our combined efforts around that area, and managed to fill a bunch of large bags with garbage. Others worked around the road and into the woods, and after it was all done and said we have over a dozen bags filled!

Thanks again to everybody for attending, I always enjoy meeting old and new friends and swapping smiles and stories together. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Be Well and Cache On!

Thanks Geodoc74 for hosting this event.
We did manage to clean out a lot of trash that would have washed down the creek.
And so good to see a great turnout for the event.
